Transmigration and New Life

Lin Hai was formerly an overworked corporate employee who died when a dump truck struck him. His soul was pulled through an accidental dimensional rift, encountered the Seven-Colored Essence in transit, and awakened in New York as a wealthy sixteen-year-old Chinese student with an apartment near Chinatown. His previous-life memories fully returned when the Essence healed him after a second traffic accident. 1

Recognizing Stark Industries, Lin Hai realized he had entered the Marvel Universe. Although relieved by his improved health, youth, and family wealth, he became determined to prepare for the dangers he expected from future superhuman and cosmic events. 1 4

Chen Bing’s Disciple

Dr. Chen Bing rescued Lin Hai after his accident and offered him work at his clinic and adjoining medicinal-plant shop. Lin Hai accepted the position before beginning at Midtown High School. 1

Chen Bing introduced him to Chen-Style Taiji, initially treating him as a prospective student rather than a disciple. Lin Hai struggled to move beyond imitation, but learned to coordinate breath, intent, posture, and qi; this training awakened the Essence’s first energy thread in his dantian. 2 3

After a summer of Tai Chi practice, cultivation, medicinal meals, and plant care, Lin Hai passed Chen Bing’s test and became his first foundational disciple. Chen Bing gave him a dark-blue practice uniform and stressed that martial skill required moral discipline as well as technical diligence. 5

At Midtown High, Lin Hai befriended Peter Parker on his first day and later brought him to the herb shop, where Peter became fascinated by Lin Hai’s unusually vigorous plants. 6 7

Ego’s Seed and Evolution

While investigating high-energy plants with Osborn Group, Lin Hai discovered that an immense flower bud in Missouri was one of Ego’s planetary seeds. He initially refused to absorb its energy because of the danger it posed to nearby civilians. 21

He later spent seven days carefully drawing energy from the bud. The process catastrophically overwhelmed his body, but the Seven-Colored Essence repaired his damaged meridians and fused his existing energies into emerald Life Force. The evolution vastly improved his regeneration, energy reserves, senses, physical strength, and plant communication. 22

Ta Lo Village

During a return trip to Huaxia, Lin Hai discovered Golden-Thread Bamboo and sensed a hidden energy path associated with Ta Lo. 16 He later followed its resonance through the Bamboo Grove Maze, becoming the first outsider in thousands of years to reach Ta Lo through Life Force. 42 44

In Ta Lo, Lin Hai earned Old Chen’s trust and formed a powerful bond with the village’s guardian Azure Dragon. He healed scars inflicted by dark energy, received the Divine Dragon Heart, rode the dragon through the sky, and helped develop the combined aerial attack Dragon Ascent. 43 45

Old Chen taught him a Ta Lo cultivation method that allowed him to combine Tai Chi with Energy Projection. Lin Hai then refined the technique through more than ten days of sparring with Ta Lo’s martial artists before returning to New York. 46 47

The Ancient One’s Interest

The Ancient One visited Chen Bing’s clinic and told Lin Hai that she could no longer see his future. His presence had blurred a future that she had once seen clearly, creating new possibilities and making him an unpredictable variable in the timeline. 49
