In the plaza, Steve looked at Banner. "Dr. Banner, I know you don't want to turn into that, but we need your strength now. We need Hulk's strength."

"So think of this as a chance to let it all out. You don't often get a chance to cut loose and smash everything without holding back. What do you say?"

Banner hated Hulk. Whenever he transformed, his own consciousness was locked deep inside his mind, forced to watch as the furious green giant went on a rampage.

And once Hulk's anger burned out and he turned back into Banner, he had to face the consequences alone. That was why he hated Hulk and wanted nothing more than to find a way to get rid of him.

But as he watched the Chitauri wreak havoc and kill people across the city, watched their Flyers swoop down from the sky, watched ordinary people fall in the streets and never get up again, he began to think that having Hulk's power might not be entirely bad.

At least he could use it to kill these alien scum tearing up Earth.

Banner looked at Steve. "Captain, I think you're right. Anger is something you need to let out."

With that, he took two steps forward, and his body began to change.

First his skin turned from its normal color to pale green, then deep green. His muscles swelled. Buttons popped from his shirt, and his sleeves split with a series of rips. His shoulders broadened, his arms thickened, and the muscles rising across his chest tore the shirt apart.

His shoes burst open too. Green toes pressed into the ground, leaving two shallow dents in the plaza. A massive green figure now stood there, muscles knotted and veins bulging.
