A few minutes earlier, in the Inhumans' territory, Maximus sat on a sofa in the main hall, his face alight with excitement.
"Well? Did they all go?" Maximus asked the subordinates standing respectfully before him.
Not long before, he had told every Inhuman in the territory that Loren had imprisoned Black Bolt, Medusa, and Crystal.
The news had sent the Inhumans into an uproar. They all demanded that Loren pay for what he had done.
A group of Black Bolt's subordinates had even rushed straight toward Loren's manor, looking ready to tear him limb from limb.
That was exactly what Maximus wanted. He hoped every one of Black Bolt's loyalists would go to Morgan Manor—and die at Loren's hands.
Then he would be the undisputed new king of the Inhumans. Once that happened, he would abolish every rule about hiding from the world.
Now that he had the Mind Stone, his power was formidable.
He intended to become not only king of the Inhumans, but king of all humanity.
To him, Inhumans were perfect, superior to humans. They deserved to stand above humanity and rule it.
That belief had driven everything he had planned.
And now events were unfolding exactly as he had hoped. How could he not be excited?
"Master, they all went! Black Bolt's closest followers looked especially vicious. They seemed ready to eat Loren alive."
"Heh. Good. Loren is no pushover, and he won't just sit there and take it.
The two sides are bound to clash. They'll both suffer heavy losses, and then we can reap the rewards."
A sly smile spread across Maximus's face. He could almost see the future he wanted.
But before he could savor it, a crimson flame plunged from the sky. Before anyone could react, it blasted through the hall's ceiling.
