Tony Stark did not like Brooklyn.
That was no secret. Manhattan was his territory. Stark Tower was there, along with his laboratory, the skyline he knew, and the familiar grid of streets.
Brooklyn was too old, too chaotic, with too many winding alleys and buildings that had fallen into disrepair.
Every time he came to Brooklyn, he remembered things he would rather forget.
Siberia, that video, the alley where Bucky Barnes had died.
But the trail led here, so here he was.
One in the morning, at the southern end of Brooklyn, in an abandoned shipyard.
This place was a relic of New York's industrial age. The once-bustling docks had shut down decades ago.
All that remained were rusted gantry cranes, cracked concrete, and several factory buildings on the verge of collapse.
The Hudson River flowed slowly beneath the docks, its low murmur like the breathing of some sleeping beast.
Tony wore the Mark L Armor—not the full suit, but portable mode.
The armor was stored as nanoparticles within the Arc Reactor on his chest, ready to deploy at any moment.
He crouched on the edge of a factory roof, visor down, red eyes scanning the building below in night-vision mode.
"Heat signature confirmed. Target is on the second floor of the factory. One individual. Vital signs are a ninety-seven percent match with the Skrull database."
JARVIS's voice sounded in his ear, calm and professional.
"Only one person?" Tony asked quietly.
"Only one Skrull has been detected so far. However, there are multiple shielding layers inside the factory. There may be additional life signs that have not been detected."
"So this could be a trap?"
Tony's tone carried his habitual caution and suspicion.
"From a tactical perspective, there is a high probability."
"Trap or not, we don't have a choice.
