Hank, Gambit, Laura, and Bucky rode steadily upward in the elevator. New York's dazzling nightscape slowly unfolded beneath their feet, eventually becoming a sea of light.
"So that's the situation." Hank's voice broke the silence, echoing through the cramped space. "Any other questions?"
"Hank, you mean S.H.I.E.L.D. is finished, right?" Laura Kinney leaned against the glass wall with her arms crossed, calmly asking Hank, "So we're unemployed?"
"More than that, we need to consider the trouble that comes next." Hank rubbed his brow, looking exhausted. "Hydra has taken over S.H.I.E.L.D. Miles and Tony have already clashed with Ultron. They're clearly acting together, but we still don't know what those people are planning."
"You find that stuff out by fighting." Laura said indifferently. "That's how we've always done things, isn't it?"
"Just because we've always done it doesn't mean it's right." Hank looked into Laura's wild eyes, fell silent for a moment, then said, "Maybe you should consider going to college, Laura. Universities in this world don't have special restrictions aimed at Mutants."
"I'm not going." Laura refused without a second thought. "Thinking too much only makes your claws rust. That's what that guy told me."
