Ororo Munroe sat behind her desk, several thick stacks of documents piled before her.
"There are only three water filter cartridges left for the greenhouse on the west side of the Institute. The medicine supply will only last seventeen days..."
As she reviewed the records, she wrote notes on the rationing sheet beside them.
After Feirotus descended, electronic devices could no longer handle this work. Yet the workload had not decreased at all—it had only grown.
Just then, the office door opened, and "Nightcrawler" Kurt Wagner approached the desk with a list.
"Ororo, the Institute took in another six children yesterday. Two of them need long-term treatment."
Kurt, her deputy, held the list in his hand and spoke helplessly.
"Send the children needing treatment to Mrs. Sharon first. Ration the medicine at low doses for now." Ororo rubbed her brow, took the list, and gave it a glance. "The others can go to the east dormitory. Try not to separate those under twelve."
"Okay."
Kurt nodded, but did not leave immediately.
"Is there something else?"
Ororo looked at him.
"The community only has enough flour for four more days. There is also a problem with the basement in the backyard; Bobby is handling it. Besides that, the White Court caravan is half a day behind schedule."
Ororo sighed and wrote several lines on another sheet of paper on the desk.
"Starting today, increase the potatoes and beans in the staple meals. Have Piotr take some of the older students to help... And make sure the children stay away from the Danger Room."
"As for the caravan... Anna has already gone to find them. I trust her."
"Okay, then that solves all the problems. Well, temporarily."
Kurt looked at the mountain of documents on the desk and smiled
