After clicking this national focus, a massive number of decisions appeared in the resolution tab.
However, upon closer inspection, Lufgt Huron discovered quite a few harrowing and awkward decisions that made it hard for him to keep a straight face.
Things like "Sacrifice to Khorne/Slaanesh/Nurgle/Tzeentch/Vashtorr/... to seek blessings," and there was even an option to sacrifice to all four gods simultaneously.
What are you doing here, running for a pantheon-wide election?
Or "Mandatory Breeding Program," which forcibly bred adults with high gene-seed genetic compatibility in order to obtain more Astartes initiates with high genetic matching.
And there were supporting decisions underneath like "Backcrossing" and "Selfing," which made Lufgt Huron not even dare to click and read their contents.
Where on earth has this brought me? Are they going to build a Dawn Hall next?
Yet, the moment he thought of things he had seen back in lore-surfing days online, Lufgt Huron felt it was not so strange anymore.
Both the Carcharodons and Ashen Claws were suspected of having captured females with high genetic compatibility and taken them back to their homeworlds to serve as breeding machines, and although the Ashen Claws later grew friendly in their dealings with ordinary humans, the Carcharodons, well...
Fortunately, aside from these decisions that did not align with Lufgt Huron's values, there were still quite a few that matched his vision.
For instance, "Accelerate Chapter Initiate Training Speed," "Reorganize and Strengthen Chapter Auxilia," "Enhance Chapter Fleet Might," and so on.
Among them, however, the one that piqued Lufgt Huron's curiosity the most was "Gain the Attention of the Emperor."
This decision cost 100 political power and conflicted with the Chaos-aligned decisions, forcing a choice between the two.
Yet, he had never wanted to choose Chaos-aligned decisions in the first place, and since Warhammer was a place with the Warp and psychic powers, he still had to find himself a patron in the Warp.
The best and only option for humanity was the Emperor, so Lufgt Huron chose this decision.
He was also quite curious: according to lore-surfing content from before, at this time both the Emperor and the four gods were channeling spells and waiting for their resurrections, various miracles being the instinctive responses of their domains, and the very first thing they would do upon resurrection was to blow up Cadia together to open the Great Rift.
Besides, the Emperor still had the problem of conflicting divinity and humanity, so as for this "Gain the Attention of the Emperor" right now, whose attention was it actually getting?
100 political power vanished from the panel, some new decisions appeared on it, and the commotion in the Warp was far greater than this.
An entirely new force borrowed Lufgt Huron's soul, the Astral Claws, and the Warp symbolism of the planet Badab to enter this eternal playground, then rushed into the Emperor's domain.
A consciousness was born within a pitch-black, freezing sun of utter deadliness that only instinctively fished out the souls of the loyal.
A new, gentle, utterly pure and good consciousness—a god-soul brimming with humanity, shaped and sustained by a power from beyond the world.
The moment it was born, He perceived that "time" was wrong, though talking about time in the Warp was somewhat comical, and He was certain that the timing of His awakening was incorrect.
Because the consciousnesses of the other four bastards were still in slumber, and only their domains were operating instinctively.
Then came bewilderment: why had He awakened early?
Although this gave Him the chance to lay out plans in advance and contend for an advantage, the Warp was never a benevolent place, and He did not believe in such pie falling from the sky.
Yet, immediately afterward, an unfamiliar force that was entirely out of place in the Warp descended upon Him, guiding Him to cast His gaze down toward reality.
This force was not powerful, and even though He was exceptionally weak right now, He could have ignored it.
Still, He keenly sensed that it was precisely this force that had caused Him to awaken early, so He did not resist, choosing instead to follow the flow of this force to see what it wanted Him to do.
Even as a newly born consciousness, He still inherited the extreme arrogance and gambling nature of the Master of Mankind.
Though He had just fallen unconscious in bed for ten thousand years because He reneged on a debt, and His webway project—upon which He had staked everything—had failed, He still believed He could control the situation.
"Lufgt Huron? An Astartes Chapter Master? Is there anything special about him?"
He saw the person this force wanted Him to see, yet found it strange why this unremarkable Chapter Master would draw the attention of this force.
Even relying on psychic prophecy, He had already seen the future where Lufgt Huron might rebel against the Imperium and fall to Chaos, but this was hardly special at all.
Leaving aside the fact that He could easily prevent this future right now by giving an order to the Custodes, He simultaneously saw futures where Lufgt Huron did not rebel, instead becoming the sector commander of the Maelstrom defense zone after the unfolding of the Great Rift.
There were also futures where Lufgt Huron turned renegade yet grew powerful, causing the Imperium of Man to turn a blind eye to the Maelstrom, alongside countless other possibilities.
The Warp could alter even the past, let alone a future that inherently lacked fixed resolution.
"Hmm? No, his soul is not his original one; it seems to stem from the same source as this unknown force." After observing closely for a moment longer, He suddenly discovered the anomaly in Lufgt Huron's soul.
"So you are hoping I will help him?" That unknown force did not respond, seemingly exhausted, but He did not think so.
Able to wake Him up early—something even Vashtorr that clown could not accomplish—how could this force possibly be exhausted so easily?
Moreover, because He seemed to have just awakened and the power He could mobilize was minimal, He chose to quietly observe Lufgt Huron for a period of time first.
To summarize the above content: the system created a new Empress-mother consciousness and forced Her to pay attention to Huron.
Gah! The system humiliated that Emperor fiercely! The system is invincible under heaven, yeah!
Meanwhile, Lufgt Huron waited for a few minutes, and finding that he neither glowed with golden light nor saw a large black sphere, he put the matter aside and began reviewing the details of the newly appeared decisions.
Then he was captivated by a decision named "Optimize Initiate Modification Surgery."
Because its specific contents were: "Improve gene-seed adaptability, increase initiate tolerance, lower genetic matching requirements, reduce the risk of rejection. Extremely drastically increase the success rate of initiate modification, extremely drastically lower the standards for initiates. Cost 50 political power, duration one month."
In other words, within a month he could mass-produce modified initiates without screening sources, and the success rate would also rise drastically?
Then recovering the Chapter and even over-producing for expansion seemed like no difficult task anymore, and coupled with the production capacity of military factories, adding a batch of Astartes every five years did not seem like a dream.
Even if this would lead to subsequent initiates having thin experience and decreased combat effectiveness, the system had a training function anyway, so what was the big deal with running more drills for a few years?
The mere thought of a future where he could assemble an Astartes Legion made Lufgt Huron's heart surge with emotion, carrying over into confidence for the Thirteenth Black Crusade.
Wasn't it just a Blackstone Fortress? Watch me launch a boarding action and seize it!
Without hesitation, Lufgt Huron clicked directly on this decision, then contacted the Chapter's Chief Apothecary, Galien, ready to test the true caliber of this resolution.
