Every god had a different Apotheosis Ritual. Huron's was a matter of brute force, while Vanessa's involved construction across the entire Alliance.
As for Liam, his Apotheosis Ritual was to use his own abilities to link every Alliance citizen together and conduct a session of empathic therapy on an Alliance-wide scale.
It had to be said that this plan was insane. One wrong move, and it could turn into the Human Instrumentality Project from some old mecha anime, or transform the entire Alliance into a Gestalt Consciousness with a single, unified mind.
Compared with the ascension processes of other Chaos gods, however, it seemed much more normal.
Vashtorr's Apotheosis Ritual, for instance, required him to gather all authority related to malefic craft.
He had been working toward that goal for countless years.
But the authority of Malefic Craft was held a little by the Emperor, a little by Khorne, a little by Slaanesh, and a little by Tzeentch...
Even the Shard of the Void Dragon imprisoned on Mars held a little.
By comparison, Vashtorr, who could only trick a few members of the Dark Mechanicum into worshipping him, looked rather ridiculous.
For that wannabe god to ascend, Vashtorr would have to challenge and defeat everyone listed above, seize their authority over malefic craft, and only then attain godhood.
As for how he could defeat the Four Dark Gods? Perhaps he could manage once he became the god of malefic craft.
Well... no wonder Vashtorr ultimately ended up on the board as a pawn. This was an impossible task from the start.
Compared with Vashtorr's absurd ritual, Liam's was enormously risky, but its chances of success were almost as high as they could get.
With the system there to back him up, Huron wasn't worried about anything going wrong anyway.
