Ch. 81A Conversation with Qian Renxue

Summary of “A Conversation with Qian Renxue”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • The morning after Jin Hao’s previous activities, he visits Qian Renxue at their two-story building.
  • Qian Renxue has finished absorbing her Immortal Herb and has advanced to Rank 50 Soul Power. She only needs a fifth Soul Ring to become a Soul King.
  • Jin Hao reveals that he has obtained the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud, an artifact connected to a powerful god. He acquired it from the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace after using a reward from Emperor Xue Ye as an opportunity to claim it.
  • Qian Renxue suggests that they return to Spirit City now that the artifact has been secured. Jin Hao refuses, explaining that he still needs to study the Shroud and investigate the Heaven Dou Imperial Family’s records to uncover its purpose and divine connection.
  • Jin Hao explains that his grandfather is not absorbing an Immortal Herb but is instead condensing a Soul Core, a process expected to take at least a week.
  • He describes Soul Cores as condensed Soul Power stored in the dantian. They increase both the quantity and quality of Soul Power and allow the user to absorb energy continuously.
  • Jin Hao reveals that Dugu Bo successfully formed a Soul Core while incorporating the toxins in his body, raising his Soul Power by one rank.
  • Qian Renxue wants to form a Soul Core herself, but Jin Hao explains that she currently lacks the required Soul Power and quality. Normally, only Titled Douluo—or exceptionally talented Soul Saints—can achieve it.
  • The conversation ends with Qian Renxue bringing up Bibi Dong’s recent actions. Jin Hao understands that Bibi Dong originally used Qian Renxue to pressure him into infiltrating Heaven Dou City, but now intends to benefit from his success after his plans have exceeded expectations.

  • Her interest in Soul Cores shows her ambition and desire to improve, though she must accept that the technique is beyond her current level.
  • Jin Hao continues strengthening his position within the Heaven Dou Empire while carefully concealing his broader intentions. He prioritizes investigating the Vast Sea Cosmic Shroud over returning to Spirit City.

  • Their affectionate exchange—particularly Jin Hao’s promise to tell her the technique when the time comes—strengthens their mutual trust.
  • Qian Renxue and Jin Hao also unite in their negative assessment of Bibi Dong, recognizing that she manipulated their circumstances and now seeks to profit from Jin Hao’s achievements.

Ch. 82Crying Qian Renxue

Chapter Summary: “Crying Qian Renxue”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Qian Renxue and Jin Hao discuss Bibi Dong’s past attempts to challenge or undermine their family. Jin Hao reveals that Bibi Dong once sent assassins or agents against his grandfather, but they were discovered and killed.
  • Seeking revenge, Jin Hao plans a cruel psychological attack on Bibi Dong. He has ordered the capture of her former lover, Yu Xiaogang, intending to impersonate Bibi Dong, use him, kill him while wearing her face, and send part of his remains to Bibi Dong with the claim that he died hating her.
  • Qian Renxue is shocked to learn that Bibi Dong once loved someone. She begins questioning her own place in Bibi Dong’s life and wonders whether Bibi Dong rejected her because of her attachment to that man.
  • Jin Hao attempts to reassure her by insulting Yu Xiaogang and arguing that his reputation as a scholar is undeserved. He claims Yu Xiaogang merely stole and repackaged Spirit Hall’s research, knowledge that Bibi Dong had secretly given him.
  • Qian Renxue then asks whether Bibi Dong had her with Qian Xunji only because she feared Spirit Hall would punish her, while still loving Yu Xiaogang. Jin Hao refuses to reveal the full truth, saying that Qian Xunji committed a disgraceful act and that only Qian Daoliu can explain it.
  • Qian Renxue realizes Jin Hao has known the truth for years and that she was the only person in Spirit Hall kept ignorant. Overwhelmed by betrayal, confusion, and pain, she begins to cry.
  • Jin Hao explains that the matter was forbidden to discuss because it concerned Qian Xunji’s reputation. He advises her to ask Qian Daoliu directly, while concealing Jin Hao’s involvement in revealing the information.

Character Developments

  • Qian Renxue: Her image of her family and her relationship with Bibi Dong begin to collapse. Learning about Bibi Dong’s former lover intensifies her insecurities, leading her to question why she was born and whether she was unwanted. Her tears reveal the depth of her emotional isolation and her resentment at being kept uninformed.
  • Jin Hao: He appears protective of Qian Renxue, trying to soften the truth while manipulating what she learns. However, his proposed revenge against Bibi Dong is deliberately sadistic, showing both his hatred of her and his willingness to exploit emotional trauma. He also avoids discussing Qian Xunji’s crimes because of personal loyalty and political consequences.
  • Bibi Dong: Though she does not appear directly, she is portrayed as emotionally damaged, vindictive, and still connected to her former lover. Her hostility toward Qian Renxue is interpreted through the unresolved trauma surrounding Qian Xunji.
  • Qian Daoliu: He becomes the person expected to reveal the complete truth. Jin Hao assumes Qian Daoliu will explain the past while defending Qian Xunji and portraying his actions in the most favorable light.

Significant Themes

  • Secrets and suppressed history: Spirit Hall’s prohibition against discussing the past has left Qian Renxue ignorant of the circumstances surrounding her birth and her mother’s hatred.
  • Family trauma and inherited resentment: The conflict between Bibi Dong, Qian Xunji, Qian Daoliu, and Qian Renxue is driven by old violence whose consequences continue across generations.
  • Identity and unwanted existence: Qian Renxue questions whether she was merely the product of coercion and whether Bibi Dong’s rejection means that she herself was never wanted.
  • Revenge and psychological cruelty: Jin Hao’s plan shows revenge moving beyond physical harm into deliberate emotional destruction, particularly through the use of Bibi Dong’s former lover.
  • Manipulation of truth: Jin Hao withholds information to protect his own position, while Qian Daoliu is expected to reshape the story to defend his son and preserve the family’s reputation.

Character Interactions

  • Jin Hao and Qian Renxue’s conversation shifts from strategic discussion about Bibi Dong to an emotionally vulnerable confrontation about Qian Renxue’s birth and childhood.
  • Qian Renxue repeatedly seeks reassurance from Jin Hao, but his partial answers deepen her suspicion rather than resolving it.
  • Jin Hao tries to comfort her while simultaneously directing her toward Qian Daoliu for the full explanation, ensuring that he avoids direct responsibility for revealing the secret.
  • The chapter ends with Qian Renxue crying, emotionally shaken by the realization that everyone around her knew the truth except her.

  • When pleading fails, he threatens them with his claimed connection to Bibi Dong and his supposed status as a Spirit Hall elder. His former elder status and Pope’s Order, however, had already been revoked.
  • Disgusted by his boasting and threats, Qian Renxue attacks him with her Soul Power, hurling him into the wall and injuring him.

Character developments

  • Hypocrisy and self-preservation: He invokes knowledge, status, and powerful connections only to save himself.
  • Disillusionment: Qian Renxue’s view of Yu Xiaogang—and of Bibi Dong’s past attachment to him—darkens as she sees him firsthand.

Character interactions

  • Jin Hao and Qian Renxue coordinate the confrontation, with Jin Hao disguising himself and Qian Renxue observing.
  • Yu Xiaogang tries to manipulate his captors through pleading, offers of mentorship, and threats tied to Bibi Dong and Spirit Hall.

  • Yu Xiaogang responds with rage and insults, accusing “Bibi Dong” of being vicious while still insisting he will never reconcile with her.
  • Speaking through Bibi Dong’s identity, Jin Hao dismantles Yu Xiaogang’s self-image. He reveals that Yu Xiaogang’s famous Martial Soul theories were based on Spirit Hall materials Bibi Dong gave him, challenging his claim to be a genuine grandmaster.
  • Jin Hao also condemns Yu Xiaogang for becoming involved with his cousin, Liu Erlong, and abandoning her on their wedding night. He threatens to eliminate Liu Erlong as well.
  • Before killing Yu Xiaogang, Jin Hao calls Qian Renxue his “daughter” and orders her to finish him.
  • Qian Renxue responds by calling Jin Hao “Mother”, confirming the disguise’s intended revelation. Yu Xiaogang realizes that Qian Renxue is Bibi Dong’s daughter and begins to understand that Bibi Dong may have been pregnant when they separated.

Character developments

  • Yu Xiaogang is shown as arrogant, manipulative, hypocritical, and obsessed with preserving his reputation. Even while gravely injured, he focuses on controlling Bibi Dong, asserting his authority over Qian Renxue, and defending his academic image rather than showing remorse.
  • Jin Hao demonstrates both physical dominance and psychological cruelty. He intentionally uses Bibi Dong’s appearance and voice to exploit Yu Xiaogang’s expectations before exposing his failures and arranging his execution.
  • Qian Renxue remains loyal to Jin Hao and participates in the deception. Her disgust toward Yu Xiaogang is clear, and she accepts the role of executing him.
  • Bibi Dong’s past relationship with Yu Xiaogang is reframed negatively: the knowledge and emotional sacrifices she once gave him appear to have been exploited for his personal advancement.

Significant themes

  • Manipulation and reversal of power: Yu Xiaogang expects Bibi Dong’s love to protect him, but Jin Hao turns that expectation into a trap.
  • Reputation versus reality: Yu Xiaogang cares more about being seen as a grandmaster and morally respectable than about his actual failures or the suffering he caused.
  • Punishment and humiliation: His physical crippling and psychological collapse mirror the destruction of his pride and self-image.
  • Family and hidden identity: The revelation that Qian Renxue is Bibi Dong’s daughter introduces the possibility that Yu Xiaogang unknowingly abandoned Bibi Dong while she was pregnant.

  • He threatens Qian Renxue, unaware of her connection to Bibi Dong.
  • Jin Hao, disguised as Bibi Dong, confronts Yu Xiaogang with accusations about his theories, cowardice, and relationship with Liu Erlong.

  • The revelation leaves Yu Xiaogang mentally shattered just before his apparent execution.

Ch. 85The Golden Crocodile Douluo Who Realized Something Was Wrong

Chapter Summary

  • Before dying, Yu Xiaogang curses the disguised Jin Hao, believing him to be Bibi Dong. He condemns her for being involved with her teacher and says he regrets ever loving her. His final thoughts are of Liu Erlong, whom he misses and to whom he apologizes.
  • Jin Hao uses Yu Xiaogang’s death to retaliate against Bibi Dong. He cuts off Yu Xiaogang’s arm, placing it inside Yu Xiaogang’s Storage Soul Guidance Device so Bibi Dong will recognize him through a distinctive mole.
  • Jin Hao adds a cruel note claiming that Yu Xiaogang died hating Bibi Dong and thinking only of Liu Erlong. He plans to ensure the device eventually reaches Bibi Dong as a psychological attack.
  • Yu Xiaogang’s corpse is removed and taken outside the city for disposal.
  • Jin Hao and Qian Renxue discuss the “gift” intended for Bibi Dong, though Qian Renxue is more interested in learning the full story than in Jin Hao’s revenge scheme.
  • Golden Crocodile Douluo unexpectedly emerges from seclusion. He explains that he abandoned his attempt to condense a Soul Core because the process would take around twenty days in Heaven Dou City rather than the expected week.
  • He plans to resume the process in Spirit City’s Worship Hall, where the Angel God statue and abundant Soul Power should greatly accelerate the condensation.
  • Golden Crocodile Douluo examines Jin Hao while he is still disguised as Bibi Dong. After probing his body three times, he releases him with a visibly shocked expression, ending the chapter on a cliffhanger.

Character Developments

  • Jin Hao becomes increasingly calculating and vindictive. Rather than simply killing Yu Xiaogang, he deliberately manipulates the corpse and leaves evidence designed to torment Bibi Dong.
  • Qian Renxue demonstrates her ruthlessness by killing Yu Xiaogang without hesitation, but she also shows a more practical and inquisitive side by asking Jin Hao about the broader circumstances.
  • Yu Xiaogang dies consumed by bitterness toward Bibi Dong, while his final emotional attachment is directed toward Liu Erlong. His death emphasizes his humiliation and disillusionment.

Significant Themes

  • Revenge and psychological cruelty: Jin Hao seeks not merely to defeat Bibi Dong but to emotionally wound and humiliate her.

  • Jin Hao realizes that Dugu Bo may already have discovered that he is not truly Xue Qinghe when Dugu Bo examined him before he absorbed his Third Soul Ring.

  • Golden Crocodile Douluo suppresses and conceals the aura of Jin Hao’s Second Martial Soul, preventing others from detecting it.
  • They devise a plan to test Dugu Bo’s intentions. Golden Crocodile Douluo, Snake Lance Douluo, and Pufferfish Douluo will hide near a teahouse, while Jin Hao returns to the Crown Prince’s Mansion and invites Dugu Bo to meet him.

  • Before leaving, Jin Hao gives Golden Crocodile Douluo a Storage Soul Guidance Device containing the corpse of Yu Xiaogang, Bibi Dong’s former lover. He asks Golden Crocodile Douluo to secretly place it before Bibi Dong as revenge for her repeated interference.

Character Developments

His willingness to kill Dugu Bo if necessary shows his increasing ruthlessness and determination to build his own power.

  • Bibi Dong: Is positioned as the target of Jin Hao’s personal revenge. Her emotional attachment to Yu Xiaogang is used against her.
  • Snake Lance and Pufferfish Douluo: Support Golden Crocodile Douluo by preparing to ambush Dugu Bo if negotiations fail.

Significant Themes

  • The fragility of deception: Jin Hao’s carefully constructed disguise is threatened not by an obvious mistake, but by the unexpected evolution of his Martial Soul.
  • Trust and hidden motives: Dugu Bo’s silence creates uncertainty over whether he is loyal, grateful, opportunistic, or preparing a betrayal.

  • Dugu Bo receives the invitation while researching poisons at Dugu Manor. He immediately suspects that Jin Hao’s stated cultivation problem is merely an excuse, since Dugu Bo knows Jin Hao’s body and meridians well enough to conclude that he should not face difficulties before reaching the Soul Saint level.
  • Before leaving, Dugu Bo warns Dugu Yan not to leave the manor or touch the poisonous products made from dangerous Immortal Herbs in his garden.
  • Dugu Bo reaches the teahouse and carefully scouts the area before revealing himself. He detects Jin Yi and Jin Er guarding Jin Hao but fails to notice the three concealed Titled Douluo-level figures.

  • Golden Crocodile Douluo: Acts as Jin Hao’s protector and strategist. He takes responsibility for shielding Jin Hao from retaliation and organizes the trap for Dugu Bo.
  • Dugu Bo: Becomes increasingly suspicious and observant. Rather than blindly trusting the invitation, he analyzes Jin Hao’s abilities, investigates the teahouse, and recognizes the danger of the situation.
  • Dugu Yan: Shows affection and trust toward her grandfather while also displaying a humorous fear of his poisonous experiments and Immortal Herbs.
  • Dugu Bo and Jin Hao: Their relationship remains outwardly respectful, but Dugu Bo’s gratitude toward Jin Hao—who changed his family’s fate—contrasts with his growing suspicion about Jin Hao’s hidden intentions.

  • He briefly considers whether Jin Hao might belong to Spirit Hall, but rejects the idea because of Jin Hao’s dragon-type Martial Soul and the help he has given Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan.

Character developments

  • Dugu Bo: His loyalty to Jin Hao has deepened into personal trust and even hopes that Jin Hao will become Dugu Yan’s husband. Although he recognizes Jin Hao as a potential conspirator, he prioritizes gratitude and his family’s interests over political loyalty. He also becomes aware that Jin Hao now knows he has uncovered the disguise.
  • Jin Hao: He displays caution, intelligence, and strategic thinking by creating a false medical concern to expose Dugu Bo’s knowledge. Once successful, he becomes concerned about whether Dugu Bo intends to betray him, especially because the answer will determine whether Golden Crocodile Douluo and the other hidden protectors remain concealed or attack.

  • Jin Hao offers his hand and asks Dugu Bo to inspect his cultivation, using the examination as a trap.
  • Dugu Bo examines him and gives a reassuring answer, claiming Jin Hao is in perfect condition and exceptionally strong.
  • Their eye contact and prolonged silence communicate that both recognize the truth, creating a tense standoff without an explicit confession.

Ch. 89Dugu Bo's Little Story

Chapter Summary: “Dugu Bo’s Little Story”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Dugu Bo notices the tense atmosphere and tells Jin Hao a story from his youth.
  • As a young Soul Emperor, Dugu Bo became feared across Douluo Continent because of his powerful Jade Phosphorus Snake Venom. After defeating another Poison Martial Soul user, he was badly injured and hunted by enemies who wanted to kill him before he recovered.
  • He was rescued by Lin Lang, a High-Rank Soul Emperor with a Blood Wolf Martial Soul. Because Lin Lang was ostracized as an Evil Soul Master, he sympathized with Dugu Bo and considered him one of his own kind.
  • Dugu Bo regarded Lin Lang as his lifesaving benefactor and refused to betray him, even when he had considered joining Spirit Hall.
  • Lin Lang was later killed by Juhaoguan, a Spirit Hall member who had once been Dugu Bo’s acquaintance. In response, Dugu Bo made Juhaoguan his mortal enemy and began fighting against Spirit Hall.
  • Dugu Bo reveals that Jin Hao’s recent help in resolving the flaws of his and Dugu Yan’s Martial Souls is a kindness he considers comparable to Lin Lang’s rescue.
  • Through the story, Dugu Bo silently assures Jin Hao that he knows Jin Hao is not truly Xue Qinghe but will neither expose him nor betray him.
  • Dugu Bo then suggests that Jin Hao spend more time with Dugu Yan, implicitly encouraging a possible relationship between them. Jin Hao responds cautiously, saying they should let their relationship develop naturally.
  • Dugu Bo leaves to continue researching poisons and promises to give Jin Hao some of his creations for protection.

Character Developments

  • Dugu Bo: His backstory reveals him as fiercely loyal and deeply committed to repaying kindness. His hatred of Juhaoguan and Spirit Hall stems not merely from personal conflict but from his determination to avenge Lin Lang. His renewed trust in Jin Hao confirms that he values loyalty over power or political advantage.
  • Jin Hao: He correctly interprets the hidden message in Dugu Bo’s story and recognizes that Dugu Bo has accepted his true identity. Jin Hao remains cautious about Dugu Bo’s matchmaking efforts but appreciates his loyalty and reassurance.
  • Lin Lang: Though only present in Dugu Bo’s memories, he is established as compassionate, misunderstood, and courageous. His act of saving Dugu Bo shapes Dugu Bo’s entire moral outlook.
  • Juhaoguan: He becomes the symbol of Dugu Bo’s enduring grudge against Spirit Hall after killing Lin Lang while pursuing him as a suspected Evil Soul Master.
  • Dugu Yan: She is indirectly positioned as a potential romantic partner for Jin Hao, though the chapter does not show a direct interaction between them.

Significant Themes

  • Loyalty and gratitude: Dugu Bo’s central principle is that a life-saving kindness must never be forgotten or repaid with betrayal.
  • Trust beyond appearances: Dugu Bo accepts Jin Hao despite discovering that his identity as Xue Qinghe is false, emphasizing that personal loyalty matters more than political identity.
  • Prejudice and ostracism: Lin Lang’s treatment as an Evil Soul Master demonstrates how society judges Soul Masters based on their Martial Souls rather than their character.
  • Honor and vengeance: Dugu Bo’s conflict with Juhaoguan is driven by his sense of honor and obligation to avenge his benefactor.
  • Relationships cannot be forced: The discussion of Jin Hao and Dugu Yan suggests that genuine affection must develop naturally rather than through political or familial arrangements.

  • Dugu Bo and Jin Hao: Their conversation is indirect but emotionally significant. Dugu Bo uses his story to reassure Jin Hao of his loyalty, while Jin Hao acknowledges that he understands the message.
  • Dugu Bo and Lin Lang: Their brief alliance becomes a lifelong bond built on rescue, gratitude, and mutual marginalization.

  • Jin Hao and Dugu Yan: Their future relationship is left open, with Jin Hao insisting that they should simply spend time together and see how they get along.

Ch. 90The Real Reason

Chapter Summary: “The Real Reason”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • After Dugu Bo leaves, Jin Hao reflects on why Dugu Bo recognized that he was impersonating Xue Qinghe but chose not to expose him. Jin Hao concludes that Dugu Bo’s loyalty stems from gratitude: Jin Hao cured the poison-related problems affecting both Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan.
  • Jin Hao recognizes that Dugu Bo’s explanation of his hostility toward Spirit Hall was incomplete. The true cause was Spirit Hall’s attempt to recruit or eliminate Dugu Bo after he became a Titled Douluo, since his poison abilities posed a major threat if left unchecked.
  • Golden Crocodile Douluo emerges and praises Dugu Bo’s integrity. Jin Hao explains that Dugu Bo’s refusal to join Spirit Hall is unimportant as long as he is willing to protect Jin Hao in Heaven Dou City.
  • Golden Crocodile teases Jin Hao about his complicated romantic situation, mentioning Qian Renxue, Shui Bing’er, and Dugu Yan. He reminds Jin Hao that Qian Renxue remains his preferred granddaughter-in-law and tells him to explain everything to her himself.
  • Golden Crocodile decides to leave Heaven Dou City early with Qian Renxue. Qian Renxue must obtain her fifth Soul Ring, while Golden Crocodile must return to the Worship Hall to condense a Soul Core and secretly deliver Jin Hao’s gift to Bibi Dong.
  • Golden Crocodile asks whether he may share Jin Hao’s Soul Core condensation method with the other elders. Jin Hao agrees, reasoning that they would eventually discover the method anyway. He also hopes their gratitude will lessen their anger if he later establishes his own faction.
  • Jin Hao changes back from his disguised appearance and returns to Qian Renxue’s secret base. He tells her that Dugu Bo discovered his identity but chose to remain silent and will support him in the future.
  • The group prepares to leave after only a few days instead of the planned month.

  • They discover no clear murderer, no Spirit Hall enemies of significant strength nearby, and no evidence linking the death to known hostile forces.
  • Their investigation reveals that Yu Xiaogang disappeared mysteriously fifteen days earlier.
  • Two days after his disappearance, a new theory teacher named Wen Qing arrived at Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy. Wen Qing had previously taught at Heaven Dou Royal Soul Master Academy but was transferred after a conflict with its education committee.
  • Bibi Dong views Wen Qing’s arrival as suspicious and possibly premeditated, though she does not know he is actually a Spirit Hall agent connected to the Worship Hall.
  • Bibi Dong theorizes that Jin Hao learned about her past relationship with Yu Xiaogang from Ning Fengzhi or Emperor Xue Ye. She concludes that Jin Hao arranged for Yu Xiaogang to be kidnapped and killed, then had Golden Crocodile Douluo bring back his severed arm and belt.
  • Although the evidence is circumstantial, Bibi Dong becomes convinced that Jin Hao is responsible and begins planning to eliminate him.
  • Another group returns from Heaven Dou City and reports that Jin E and Qian Renxue met Jin Hao several times but never left the city during their stay.
  • Jin E later took Qian Renxue to obtain her fifth soul ring before returning to Heaven Dou City.
  • The investigators cannot determine how Qian Renxue’s soul power increased, but they report that Jin Hao’s cultivation has risen to level 39.
  • They also reveal that Dugu Bo’s granddaughter’s martial soul evolved and her soul power increased after spending time connected to Jin Hao.
  • These developments further convince Bibi Dong that Jin Hao possesses a powerful method for improving cultivation and represents a serious threat.

Character Developments

  • Bibi Dong: Becomes increasingly suspicious, paranoid, and vengeful. Rather than accepting the lack of evidence, she constructs a theory that confirms her existing hatred of Jin Hao. She also recognizes his extraordinary talent and decides he must be killed before he becomes stronger.
  • Jin Hao: Is portrayed as rapidly growing in power and influence. His level 39 cultivation, connection to Qian Renxue and Dugu Bo’s granddaughter, and possible role in improving their abilities make him appear increasingly dangerous to Bibi Dong.
  • Qian Renxue: Has obtained her fifth soul ring and experienced a major increase in soul power, though the source of her advancement remains unknown.
  • Wen Qing: Is introduced as a seemingly coincidental replacement for Yu Xiaogang, but his true connection to Spirit Hall is hidden from Bibi Dong.
  • Golden Crocodile Douluo, Ning Fengzhi, Xue Ye, and Dugu Bo: Their past or current connections to Jin Hao become part of Bibi Dong’s increasingly elaborate theory.

Significant Themes

  • Suspicion and confirmation bias: Bibi Dong interprets incomplete information in a way that supports her belief that Jin Hao is guilty.
  • Political intrigue and hidden loyalties: Wen Qing’s transfer, Spirit Hall’s agents, and the connections between Jin Hao, the Heaven Dou Empire, and various power holders suggest broader manipulation behind the scenes.
  • Revenge and scapegoating: Bibi Dong needs someone to blame for Yu Xiaogang’s death and chooses Jin Hao as the focus of her anger, regardless of whether he is truly responsible.
  • Growing power and threat: Jin Hao’s rapid cultivation progress and apparent ability to help others improve make him a rising force that Spirit Hall cannot safely ignore.
  • Information and secrecy: Nearly every important event is obscured by incomplete reports, concealed identities, and mistaken assumptions.

Character Interactions

  • Bibi Dong interrogates the guards about Yu Xiaogang’s disappearance, Wen Qing’s arrival, and possible enemies in Nuoding City.
  • She questions another group of investigators about Jin E, Qian Renxue, Jin Hao, and Qian Renxue’s cultivation progress.
  • Bibi Dong mentally connects Jin Hao with Ning Fengzhi, Xue Ye, Golden Crocodile Douluo, and Dugu Bo, building a theory that they may have helped him act against her.
  • Though no direct confrontation occurs, the chapter establishes escalating hostility between Bibi Dong and Jin Hao, with Bibi Dong actively preparing to have him killed.

Ch. 100Yue Guan and Gui Mei Prepare to Make a Move Against Jin Hao

Summary

Bibi Dong confirms that Jin Hao provided the method or treasure that rapidly increased Qian Renxue’s Soul Power, with Dugu Bo apparently involved. She also connects Jin Hao to Dugu Yan’s Martial Soul evolution and his own dramatic rise in strength. Realizing that the same resource could help her cultivate powerful geniuses, destroy the Angel Lineage, and unify the continent, Bibi Dong decides to secretly seize it and eliminate Jin Hao before the Worship Hall learns the truth.
She dismisses her guards and summons Yue Guan and Gui Mei, whom she trusts because of their long-standing loyalty. Bibi Dong asks Yue Guan whether any known substance can raise Soul Power quickly, evolve Martial Souls, and do so without side effects. After hearing about Jin Hao, Dugu Yan, and Qian Renxue, Yue Guan identifies the cause as Immortal Herbs—extremely rare plants formed in areas rich in spiritual energy that can transform talents, strengthen Soul Power, and even alter Martial Souls.
Yue Guan explains that he has studied Immortal Herbs for years because of his own Martial Soul and once gave Imperial Protector Jin E an illustrated guide to them. He now suspects that Jin Hao, rather than Jin E, requested the guide because he already knew where Immortal Herbs could be found. This convinces Bibi Dong that Jin Hao possesses or knows the location of these valuable herbs. She becomes jealous and resentful that Jin Hao gave them to Qian Renxue instead of her favored disciple Nana.
Bibi Dong orders Yue Guan and Gui Mei to secretly replace Jin Hao in Heaven Dou City with someone resembling Xue Qinghe, allowing Jin Hao to return to Spirit City. They are then to take him to the Star Dou Great Forest under the pretense of helping him obtain a fourth Soul Ring after reaching Soul Ancestor rank. In reality, they are to kill him there and report that he died in an accident, repeating the cover story previously used when he went undercover. They must also recover the Immortal Herbs. Yue Guan and Gui Mei understand the hidden order and agree to carry it out.

Character Developments and Interactions

  • Bibi Dong becomes increasingly ambitious, secretive, and ruthless. Her desire for power leads her to plot both the theft of the Immortal Herbs and Jin Hao’s assassination.
  • Yue Guan demonstrates his expertise in medicinal plants and identifies Immortal Herbs as the only plausible explanation for Jin Hao’s and others’ improvements.
  • Gui Mei supports Yue Guan and Bibi Dong without questioning the plan.
  • Jin Hao, though absent from the scene, is revealed to possess rare knowledge and resources that make him a major threat and target.
  • Qian Renxue and Dugu Yan serve as evidence of the Immortal Herbs’ effects, while Bibi Dong’s jealousy toward Qian Renxue intensifies.
  • Bibi Dong’s private meeting with Yue Guan and Gui Mei shows her reliance on trusted subordinates and her effort to conceal the plan from the Worship Hall.

Significant Themes

  • Power and ambition: Bibi Dong views the Immortal Herbs as tools for creating a superior force and achieving political domination.
  • Secrecy and betrayal: She hides the truth from the Worship Hall and disguises an assassination as an accidental death.
  • Jealousy and favoritism: Bibi Dong resents that Jin Hao helped Qian Renxue rather than Nana.
  • Unequal opportunity and fate: Bibi Dong sees Jin Hao’s discoveries as unfair advantages granted by fate.
  • Political manipulation: The plan relies on impersonation, deception, and controlling the narrative surrounding Jin Hao’s supposed death.
