Power Progression

Background / History

Guga first appears during Lin Xiao's Martial Soul awakening. Rather than summoning a conventional Martial Soul, Lin Xiao manifests a chubby, penguin-suited creature—followed within seconds by 999 more. The 1,000 Gugas crowd the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect's awakening hall, where their noise, horseplay, and strength overwhelm guards and attendees alike 1.

Though initially uncontrollable, the Gugas recognize Lin Xiao as their “Boss” and obey his direct commands. Their collective discipline becomes clear when they form ranks on command and expose Evil Fat Guga after she steals the Soul Power crystal 2. Lin Xiao subsequently learns that the Gugas possess specialized professions, ranging from cooking and construction to magic, medicine, theft, and alchemy 3 5.

The group becomes an increasingly important force within the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect. They forge armor, construct vehicles, produce grenades through an assembly line, provide food and logistical support, and develop medicinal pills 7 16 17 24. Their work also gradually strengthens Lin Xiao's spirit rings, giving him a reason to pursue large-scale production with sect resources 16 21.

A squad of Thief Gugas later infiltrates Holy Soul Village, defeats and interrogates Tang San, enters the waterfall cave on the back mountain, and steals the Blue Silver Emperor's true-form body and its hundred-thousand-year right leg bone for Lin Xiao 18 19 20.

During a trip to the Star Luo Empire, Fat Guga abducts the young Zhu Zhuqing after a dispute at a fried-chicken stall and throws several Zhu family guards into the sky. Wanted posters prompt Gu Rong to take Lin Xiao and his companions back toward Heaven Dou City 31 32 34. Over the following six years, the Gugas' pills, weapons, talismans, and potions help transform the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect's resources. Their activities also contribute to the growth of Lin Xiao's four spirit rings to ten-thousand-year rings 34.

When Lin Xiao, Ning Rongrong, and Xiao Wu secretly leave the sect for Suotuo City, the Gugas help them scale its walls, supply flying equipment, and accompany them on the journey 34 35 36. Fat Guga encounters and carries off Zhu Zhuqing again, bringing her back into contact with Lin Xiao's group. Tang San recognizes the Gugas and attacks, but a Ninja Guga formation rebounds his hidden weapons 37 38.

At Shrek Academy and the Great Soul Arena, selected combat Gugas fight alongside Ning Rongrong, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Zhuqing. Other Gugas provide enhancements, transport, scouting, and emergency support during the group's activities and subsequent journey to the Star Dou Great Forest 40 44 45 46 47 48 51 54. Later, Doctor and Alchemist Gugas assist in treating Dugu Bo and collecting immortal herbs, while another Guga team constructs a replica of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well beside Lin Xiao's villa 72 73.

Appearance

Gugas resemble small, round-bodied figures in black-and-white penguin mascot suits. The first manifested Guga is approximately 1.2 meters tall and has short limbs, yellow flippers, and a girl's face visible through the penguin-beak hood 1.

Personality

As a group, the Gugas are intensely attached and loyal to Lin Xiao. They call him “Boss,” compete for his praise, sleep around him, and become distressed whenever they believe he has been hurt 6 13. Their devotion does not make them orderly: they bicker, fight over Lin Xiao's attention, abandon guilty members to avoid blame, and routinely cause public chaos 2 6.

Their thinking follows exaggerated comedic logic. Gugas can be highly competent specialists while making reckless decisions, such as installing an “emergency escape system” in an unstable tricycle, using a bargain cauldron that explodes during alchemy, or claiming a crude courtyard grave will improve five generations of descendants 15 25 26.

Their loyalty can become grandiose: before Lin Xiao's departure from the sect, they proclaim him the future “Guga King” and dress him in a robe and crown they have already prepared 34. Individual temperaments remain distinct. Fat Guga's gluttony and impulsiveness lead to repeated abductions of Zhu Zhuqing, while Yan Shuang Guga favors speed, wagers, and evasive tactics 31 37 45 47.

Abilities & Skills

Collective Command and Autonomy

The Gugas are separate, intelligent manifestations capable of speaking, planning, and acting independently while remaining responsive to Lin Xiao's orders.

• Lin Xiao can command all 1,000 Gugas to stop, assemble, and form ranks 2.
• They coordinate in specialized teams for forging, construction, combat, cooking, scouting, and theft 5 7 17 18.
• Damage suffered by individual Gugas is not transferred to Lin Xiao 6.

Despite their cute appearance, many Gugas possess exceptional physical strength.

The Guga army is divided into numerous role-based groups, generally with around ten members per profession.

• Chef Gugas — Prepare food that restores the army's operational Soul Power; their cooking also supports Lin Xiao's courtyard meals and commercial dining operation 5 9.
• Mechanic and Blacksmith Gugas — Design, smelt, forge, wire, and assemble armor, electric vehicles, motorcycles, and production equipment 7 8 14 16.
• Carpenter and Engineer Gugas — Build structures such as a pavilion and a dedicated forging room 5 24.
• Doctor Gugas — Provide treatment, transport injured Gugas on stretchers, and identify Yellow-Haired's extreme pill reaction as detoxification 13 21 26.
• Gardener Gugas — Tend the weakened Blue Silver Emperor after Xiao Wu proves too clumsy to care for it safely 21.
• Musician and Makeup Artist Gugas — Sing Lin Xiao to sleep and maintain his staged injuries with makeup 13.

Magic and Ninjutsu

Several Guga types use supernatural techniques distinct from Lin Xiao's spirit skills.

• Mage Gugas cast fireballs, waterballs, and gusts of wind using their wands; their magic can also clean Chen Xin's damaged robes 5 23.
• Ninja Gugas use sealing scrolls to store equipment and summon vehicles 9 19.
• Ninja Guga's Water Release: Water Guga Bullet forms a giant water-shaped Guga capable of halting a waterfall long enough to expose a hidden cave entrance 18.
• Alchemist Gugas can transform materials, such as converting kerosene and cooking oil into lubricating oil, though the process consumes Lin Xiao's Soul Power 14.
• Mage Gugas use flying brooms to carry the Guga army away from the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect 35.
• Ten Ninja Gugas use Uchiha Rebound in a defensive formation to return Tang San's hidden weapons 38.
• Mage Gugas and Alchemist Gugas combine buffs, pills, and potions to enhance Zhu Zhuqing's strength, speed, stamina, Soul Power, and durability and render her invisible during a fight with Zhao Wuji 40.

Soul Power Economy

Guga activity draws on Lin Xiao's Soul Power at different rates.

• Ordinary movement and play do not consume Soul Power 5.
• Combat abilities have the highest cost, while crafting costs vary with the task's complexity 5.
• Eating restores Soul Power faster than meditation or cultivation, allowing Chef Gugas to sustain the wider army if ingredients are available 5.
• If the Gugas are not fed, they continue consuming Lin Xiao's Soul Power and may hinder his cultivation 4.
• Di Guga's maximum enlarged form lasts at most three minutes under the conditions Lin Xiao has tested, consuming roughly one-third of his maximum Soul Power each minute; Lin Xiao uses Soul-Replenishing Pills to offset the drain 47.
• Repeated use of the Gugas' skills feeds back into Lin Xiao's spirit rings; after six years, all four of his rings have reached ten-thousand-year age 10 34.

Alchemy

Alchemist Gugas produce powerful but unreliable medicinal products.

• First-Grade Super Strength Guga Pill — Increases strength by 20% for one hour; it is most effective for Grand Soul Masters, with weaker effects at higher cultivation levels 24.
• “Stretch Legs and Stare Pills” — An attempted cultivation-speed medicine that instead produces a severe-looking detoxification reaction and restores the user's vitality and old work injuries 26.
• Their early stimulant-pill experiments cause widespread hallucinations and diarrhea among Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect members 23 24.
• Alchemist Gugas are forbidden by Lin Xiao from casually using intoxicating or potentially poisonous herbs 24.
