An Chen's hand shifted slightly beneath the covers, brushing against Big Ears, who was sound asleep.
For once, he had taken a day off from cultivation, slept all day, and even had a dream, only to wake up to a thief.
An Chen paid little mind to thieves of this sort.
Inside the inn room, the figure rummaged around, but after making a circuit, he found nothing resembling a backpack.
Finally, he looked toward the bed in the bedroom.
The figure slowly approached An Chen.
An Chen did not strike. He narrowed his eyes to slits and quietly watched the man's every move under cover of darkness.
After rummaging around the head of the bed, the man glanced at An Chen but made no move against him.
Then his lips moved, seemingly muttering a curse, before he walked to the window and jumped out.
An Chen, however, had no intention of going back to sleep.
On the dim street, a man jumped out of an inn and landed in an alley. Another man was waiting there, holding a rectangular box and looking around.
Seeing his accomplice jump down, the waiting man hurriedly asked,
"How did it go? Find anything?"
The man who had jumped down shook his head.
"No. Fucking hell, he's even poorer than I am."
The man holding the box looked bewildered, then tossed it aside in frustration.
"I told you it was impossible. It came to you in a dream? Who would believe that bullshit?"
"Hey, hey, don't throw it away. Maybe it meant the person checking in tomorrow."
The man who had jumped down picked up the fallen box and carefully wiped off the dust.
"Fuck you! Then keep watch yourself. Stay here until tomorrow."
With that, the man who had been waiting for his accomplice
