Ch. 124Divine Core Backlash?

Gu Changsheng stripped the Black Abyss Seed from the Sea God Divine Core and absorbed the remaining divinity, but Tang San revealed he still held a fragment of Xiao Wu’s origin. Tang San fused it with the Black Abyss Seed and became an aberrant divinity, setting the two rivals against each other as the second phase of the Ninth Trial began.

  • A mysterious voice activated a Backup Successor, and a Golden Light Pillar appeared as Tang San’s remaining Sea God power dwindled.
  • A silver-white-clad girl awakened beneath the Asura God Shadow and declared that the second stage of the Ninth Trial required her to kill Gu Changsheng.

Ch. 126Asura Descends!

Gu Changsheng fought the Asura Godhood’s backup vessel, then learned Tang San had concealed that she was only a replacement. She turned against Tang San and let Gu Changsheng draw the Asura Divinity into his Divine Gate, where she survived as a resident soul while Tang San escaped with a fragment.

  • The Asura girl wounded Gu Changsheng and his allies, but Gu Changsheng used his Divine Gate to seize the Asura God Shadow through her sword.
  • Tang San intervened and offered the girl the Divine Gate in exchange for Gu Changsheng’s Sea God Residual Mark, but Gu Changsheng revealed she had been prepared as a backup vessel for Tang San.

They destroyed the Altar’s core without closing the gate, but the Gate Master’s consciousness entered Gu Changsheng’s Ninth Divine Ring, leaving his fate uncertain.

  • Black-Robed Gu Changsheng revealed that Douluo Continent was sealed in a crystal and attacked Qian Renxue, Hu Liena, Shui Bing’er, and Ning Shuang.

They entered the gate amid a host of chained corpses and countless alternate Gu Changshengs, while the shadow warned that only one of them would leave.

  • The Black-Robed Consciousness began eroding Gu Changsheng's Ninth Divine Ring and threatened to use Xiao Wu as a vessel, but Gu Changsheng briefly regained control and sealed both the Divine Gate and the shadow within himself.

  • At the newly opened gate, a silver-haired figure who looked like Ning Shuang claimed to be her erased other half and the true inheritor of Asura, as the group’s next destination was revealed as the Asura Ancient Realm.

Ch. 137Asura Ancient Realm!

Ning Shuang learned that the Asura Godhood had stripped away half her soul and that she could reclaim herself by confronting its core in the Asura Ancient Realm. As Tang San’s memory challenged her and summoned the realm’s rules, Gu Changsheng prepared to rewrite them.

  • The girl behind the gate revealed that the Asura Godhood had removed half of Ning Shuang’s soul, and she urged Ning Shuang to take back herself rather than inherit the Godhood.
  • The group entered the Asura Ancient Realm and fought its puppets; Gu Changsheng severed the rules sustaining them and dissolved their forms.
  • Ning Shuang told the group that Tang San had taken the Asura Godhood’s first core, leaving the Godhood incomplete and turning her into a replacement vessel.

Ch. 138First Layer, Judgment!

Gu Changsheng and his companions shattered the First Layer’s Asura rules by confronting painful memories, and Ning Shuang reclaimed her real name as Ning Qing. After they cleared the layer, Tang San’s memory construct returned with the Asura Core and opened the Second Layer, where they would be tested on their greatest desires.

  • The Second Layer opened with a Desire rule that required the group to reject the thing they desired most.

Ch. 139The Second Layer: Desire!

Gu Changsheng and his companions faced a lake that offered each of them an idealized version of what they most desired. They rejected the illusions without denying their wishes, cleared the second level, and entered a third level that demanded sacrifices.

  • Gu Changsheng recognized the lake’s peaceful world as a false temptation and shattered its illusion with his spear.
  • Qian Renxue, Hu Liena, Shui Bing’er, and Ning Qing each rejected fabricated versions of their deepest desires and broke free of the lake’s illusions.
  • Xiao Wu and the others named what they truly wanted, and Gu Changsheng used their wishes to destroy the monster formed from desire.
  • The group cleared the second level, raising Gu Changsheng’s Gate of the Other Shore Authority to eleven percent and giving Ning Qing an Asura Core Fragment.
  • A White Bone Gate opened, and a voice introduced the third level, where they would choose what to sacrifice for one another.

Ch. 140Third Layer, the Price!

Gu Changsheng and his companions faced the third layer’s demand for an equivalent price, then discovered they could surrender personal restraints instead of their powers. After clearing the layer, they approached a mirror door that challenged them to trust themselves and one another.

  • The group learned that all five entrants had to pay a price, and Qian Renxue, Hu Liena, Shui Bing'er, and Ning Qing each surrendered power before the scale demanded a price from Xiao Wu.
  • Gu Changsheng tried to pay for Xiao Wu, but the rules struck him down; Xiao Wu chose to surrender her Life Divine Ring until Gu Changsheng realized the price did not have to be power.
  • Qian Renxue gave up others’ expectations, Hu Liena gave up her obsession with power, Shui Bing'er let go of her attachment to the past, and Ning Qing relinquished her obsession with her identity.
  • Xiao Wu offered up her dependence on Gu Changsheng, and the scale accepted all five prices, clearing the third layer and raising the Gate of the Other Shore Authority to 17%.
  • The prices returned to the group in altered forms, and they faced a mirror door leading to the fourth layer, where a voice identical to Gu Changsheng’s called it the self.
