After remaining silent for quite a while, the Knight-Errant of the Heroic Spirits stepped aside.
"Since it is for the sake of defending our Ancestors, then please follow me, my lords!"
The spirit-guarding knight's duty was to prevent petty intruders from disturbing the Heroic Spirits sleeping underground without cause, but that did not mean he was incapable of adapting.
The enemy had already tunneled down there. If he still clung to the rules and refused to let anyone in, wouldn't that make him an idiot?
The spirit-guarding knight led more than a dozen Knights into a grand hall and onto a Great Elevator.
This Great Elevator was as large as an entire football field. At its center stood an enormous turntable, and judging by its specifications, it was meant for Knight Mechs.
During ordinary rituals, hundreds of Knights would stand on the Great Elevator and push the huge turntable together. Their force would drive the gears through the turntable, raising or lowering the elevator.
Young Knights who wished to meet their Ancestors had to struggle to push the great turntable.
For every meter the Great Elevator descended, the Knight Mechs had to expend a tremendous amount of energy.
The Knight Mechs' exhaustion would be transmitted to their pilots through their nervous systems, leaving the pilots physically and mentally drained.
