Acquiring Walking Mechs

Servo-skulls were flying auxiliary devices made from human skulls, generally used for illumination, reconnaissance, and mobile broadcasts.

Some servo-skulls were also fitted with low-powered lasguns or loaded with large bombs, turning them into self-destruct drones.

Generally speaking, being selected to become a servo-skull was a reward for an Imperium citizen.

This servo-skull shone its light as it floated ahead to lead the way, while Li Qinwu led the team behind it.

"Prayer Workshop No. 86 will be reached in twenty meters."

The servo-skull issued its notice, and Li Qinwu ordered:

"No need. Head for Prayer Workshop No. 87."

Prayer Workshops were where finished products were placed while assigned personnel prayed beside them one-on-one, soothing the Machine Spirit.

There was no need to visit Prayer Workshop No. 86. Its huge iron doors had been violently blasted open by the Orks. A glance inside revealed nothing but emptiness—not even a screw remained.

"Proceeding to Workshop No. 87."

The servo-skull changed targets and led them in another direction.

For the next hour or so, Li Qinwu went back and forth through the various Prayer Workshops.

Yet nearly every workshop had been violently torn apart by the Orks, and not a single Walking Mech stored inside remained!

As time passed, Li Qinwu's expression grew increasingly grim. Don't tell me we'll end up without even one Walking Mech?

As they walked, the group arrived at the entrance to Workshop No. 103. The corridor leading to Workshop No. 103 was littered with collapsed metal and construction debris.

This should have been within the area affected by the Temple Self-Destruct Procedure. All the facilities ahead had been crushed solid beneath the collapsed building levels!

Li Qinwu was deeply disappointed. Fuck, was this the end of the line? Were they really going back without a single Walking Mech?
