Ch. 281Slaying the Demon
Key plot points and events
- Su Yueli challenges Motian Xing to draw him away from the armies, but he refuses to fight on her terms. He uses feints and attacks on the retreating Great Liang troops to force her to keep dividing her attention between him and the people below.
- The battlefield remains chaotic despite commanders’ attempts to stop the fighting. Fear and confusion make rival armies mistake one another’s movements for attacks.
- Han Yu intervenes with the People’s Protection Corps, using white flags to create separate evacuation routes for the Great Qian and Great Xun forces. She imposes order, prioritizes the wounded, and persuades the armies to abandon heavy equipment so they can escape faster.
- Motian Xing sends a crushing wave of Demon Qi down on the evacuation column. Han Yu and soldiers from both hostile dynasties join forces to hold it back, but their defenses are nearly destroyed before Su Yueli arrives and breaks the attack.
- Su Yueli tells Han Yu to keep moving so she can fight without worrying about the people below. As the armies withdraw, Motian Xing reveals that their battle has already activated an ancient formation beneath the wasteland.
- Eight pillars of black light rise around the battlefield, sealing the region—including the evacuation route.
