The music began.
Si Di started dancing to the rhythm.
Every beat landed with perfect precision!
His control of strength was just right, his movements agile yet powerful!
As he danced, he began to sing softly.
His voice built gradually. As the rhythm quickened, his bright tone rose, rose, then erupted with tremendous energy!
Singing and dancing merged into one, fervent and surging!
He had never received any training, yet after only three days of practice, he had achieved such a flawless result!
Dance instructor Qian Er nodded approvingly. During the ten-odd seconds of instrumental buffer after the first run-through, he gave Si Di a thumbs-up.
When Si Di saw it, a faint smile bloomed at the corners of his eyes.
That hint of red at the ends of his eyes made his smile as charming as a spring flower in bloom.
It was utterly bewitching.
Qian Er's spine tingled. He could not help sucking in a breath, then leaned against his chair and quietly angled himself closer to Qin Wei.
"Old Qin, I'm really puzzled right now. Becoming mortal enemies with such a harmless little beauty... are you made of stone? Never mind who was right or wrong. Just that face smiling at me would make it worth getting hit or scolded."
Qin Wei said nothing.
He leaned back in his chair with his spine straight, his deep eyes fixed intently on the person on the small stage.
Honestly, he was both surprised and impressed.
Although he knew Si Di had a solid foundation, time had been so tight. Qin Wei had still been startled that Si Di could blend singing and dancing together and do it so perfectly.
Talent was important.
But without sweat and effort, it would have been impossible to make it flawless.
The second chorus began.
Before moving into a new sequence, Si Di stood still for two seconds. When a heavy beat hit, he abruptly lifted his head with a burst of force.
His upturned eyes gleamed brilliantly.
Qian Er clenched the hand resting on the table, then leaned toward Qin Wei again.
"Old Qin, let me ask you something... Does Si Di have someone?"
"???"
Qin Wei suddenly turned his eyes toward him, his brows drawing together. His expression was as though he had seen a ghost.
Qian Er licked his lips and continued, "You grew up together, after all. You should know at least something about your mortal enemy, right? Do you think Si Di is straight or gay? Would he accept someone seven or eight years older? And... do you think I have any chance if I pursue him?"
"..."
Qin Wei stared hard at Qian Er.
As if he wanted to see through his internal structure, his eyes narrowed slightly, and amid his scrutiny arose a trace of—
Wariness?
Qian Er felt uncomfortable all over under that stare and could not help lowering his head to look over his clothes.
He checked himself once and found nothing out of place.
Qian Er lifted his head in confusion again. "What is it? Why are you staring at me? Is there something on my face?"
"No. I just find it strange." Qin Wei finally looked away, his voice inexplicably cold. "Teacher Qian Er has spent so many years navigating the entertainment industry, surrounded by bright lights, wine, singing, and dancing. You ignore all those delicate flowers and butterflies throwing themselves at you, yet you want to pluck a thornbush?"
Qian Er clicked his tongue. "Listen to you. What thornbush? That sounds awful. Si Di is obviously a rose. Even if he has thorns, he's still gorgeous and irresistible. Bringing him home and keeping him there would be pleasing enough just to look at. Hey, Old Qin, you still haven't answered me. Si Di is—"
"Straight."
Qin Wei sounded quite impatient as he said coldly, "He doesn't like men, and he especially doesn't like someone seven or eight years older."
Qian Er blinked. "Really? How do you know that so clearly? Even though same-sex marriage has long been legalized, nobody has that much free time to go around asking everyone whether they're straight or gay, right?"
Qin Wei's expression darkened. With a hint of irritation, he reprimanded him in a low voice, "Si Di only looks wild. In reality, his family upbringing is very strict, and he himself is conservative. If Teacher Qian Er wants to pick wildflowers, go pick them in a garden outside. Don't see someone else raising their flower well and eagerly want to carry off the whole pot."
Qian Er froze. "Why are you reacting so strongly? Even if I wanted to carry off the whole pot, I wouldn't be carrying it out of your house. Why are you so angry, Old Qin?"
They had known each other for years. Qin Wei had always been poised, restrained, refined, and proper.
Yet this time, he had gotten angry for no apparent reason?
And he was speaking so sourly, as if someone were trying to steal his wife.
Qin Wei glanced at him and explained coldly, "I simply can't stand seeing the only son of an uncle who has always looked after me being mistreated. This has nothing to do with Si Di. I'm interfering purely out of respect for Uncle Si."
Qian Er furrowed his brows and retorted, "Can you stop making it sound so ugly? When did I ever say I wanted to mistreat Si Di? I already said I wanted to bring him home and keep him there. Do you not understand what keeping him at home means?"
"So you want to marry Si Di? Are you sure?"
Qin Wei's gaze was extremely sharp.
A powerful pressure descended.
Like dark clouds sweeping overhead, it made people uneasy and left them struggling to breathe.
Qian Er could not help swallowing, his voice weakening slightly. "We haven't even dated yet. How can I be thinking about marriage? We have to try being together first. Once feelings grow deeper, then we can think about the future."
Qin Wei cut him off directly, leaving no room for argument. "Don't even think about it. You two aren't compatible."
"..."
Qian Er was left speechless.
He turned to look at Si Di, who was still dancing.
The theme song had reached its ending.
After a blazing high note, Si Di jumped in place, his clothes tugging upward.
A slim waist, long legs.
Skin that was fair and soft.
It made one feel as if ants had crawled into one's heart, leaving an unbearable tingling itch.
Qian Er's eyes shifted. Still unwilling to give up, he leaned closer again. "Old Qin, you can't make Si Di stay single his whole life just because he offended you, can you? Si Di is handsome with a great figure, sweet when he wants to be, adorable when he wants to be. Could he possibly lack someone who likes him?"
"Since he'll have to date and get married sooner or later, why not with me? At the very least, I'm your friend, Old Qin. He won't win me over to his side. Who knows, maybe I can even become the mediator who helps you two reconcile."
"If Si Di and I get together, it would be nothing but beneficial to you. Old Qin, don't be so petty. Give me a chance, okay?"
Qian Er looked at Qin Wei eagerly.
There was a little pleading in his eyes.
A little pitifulness.
If the cameras had not been filming, he swore he would have dropped to his knees with a smack.
Dating was far too difficult these days.
Yet Qin Wei showed no sympathy at all. Without even turning his head, he said, "Sorry, I can't give you that chance. Si Di—"
Qin Wei's long, dark eyes looked toward the young man on the small stage, who was striking his ending pose.
His voice paused before he said with a dark undertone, "Si Di already has a partner."
"Huh?"
Qian Er was shocked. "As expected, real gold fears no furnace, and fine wine needs no deep alley! Someone that good-looking was snatched up early. Hey, who is it? Are they in the industry? I'm really curious. Who has such good taste that they beat me to the punch?"
"I don't know."
Qin Wei let out a shallow breath.
A layer of cold displeasure rippled through his gaze.
Before the camera turned toward him, Qin Wei murmured softly:
"Anyone capable of luring away that little lunatic must have some skill, even if he is an unlucky bastard."
