They knew full well that, with things having reached this point, everyone was growing somewhat anxious. After all, time waited for no one.
At this pace, they could hardly sit still. It felt as though a stone weighed on their hearts.
Whatever happened, they had to stay calm and approach every step ahead with caution.
They had to do their best to get everything right. There was no room for mistakes.
Just then, the old man suddenly appeared at the entrance, his face seething with barely contained anger. He looked like an enraged lion.
He blocked the doorway, his face livid and his eyes blazing.
"Hmph, so you punks have been hiding here all along. I finally found you."
"I have to say, you're all bastards. There's not a single decent one among you."
"Don't make me say it again. As long as I'm still breathing, you won't lay a finger on Laboon."
Laboon was the enormous whale, the one the old man would protect with his life. If anyone hurt Laboon, the old man would fight them to the death.
The man and woman exchanged a glance and broke into sinister laughter.
Their faces were smug, practically overflowing with satisfaction. They weren't the least bit anxious about what was happening in front of them.
"Heh heh, whatever you say, there's no way we're going back. Don't waste your breath."
"No matter what happens today, we're going to blast a huge hole in this whale's belly."
The instant they finished speaking, they fired a cannonball. They clearly intended to make a big splash and get spectacular results, leaving no one any time to react.
The old man's heart clenched at the sight, and he hurriedly leaped into the air.
In an instant, he reached the cannonball and took a heavy
