Ch. 41Changes (Part One)
Plot and events
- At age 11, Jiang Lin checks his status: he is a Level 49 Soul Ancestor with a Divine King’s Power Sword and Pure Yang Flame, and still has 4,630 Collapse Points. Five years of safe, focused cultivation have strengthened him, but his progress has slowed as the incomplete Northern Mysterious Technique approaches its limit.
- Jiang Lin hopes to reach Soul King soon, hunt for a Soul Ring, and receive the inheritance of the Ancient God Art. He suspects he will need the technique’s missing middle section to advance further afterward.
- Little Dragon Girl calls him to eat. She senses someone familiar approaching, followed at a distance by two extremely powerful presences. Jiang Lin worries it may be Tian Yan, but Little Dragon Girl detects no hostility.
- From the roof, Jiang Lin recognizes the approaching girl as Xiao Wu, returning after five years away. He is delighted to see her.
- Jiang Lin and Little Dragon Girl go to greet Xiao Wu. After a brief hesitation, Little Dragon Girl accepts Jiang Lin holding her hand. Xiao Wu and Little Dragon Girl are both surprised by how much the other has changed, and Xiao Wu apologizes for not visiting sooner.
Character development and interactions
- Jiang Lin has spent five years absorbed in cultivation. He is excited by the prospect of the Ancient God Art but wary of the mysterious figures following Xiao Wu. His open affection for Little Dragon Girl shows his confidence in their relationship.
- Little Dragon Girl has grown more capable and worldly, particularly through learning to cook and manage independently. Though still reserved, she is gentler with Jiang Lin and increasingly comfortable with his affection, but initially worries about how it might look to Xiao Wu.
- Xiao Wu returns after a long absence, explaining that family matters kept her away. Her appearance has changed markedly, reflecting the passage of time.
- The reunion is warm but tinged with surprise and nostalgia. Little Dragon Girl senses the powerful escorts, while Jiang Lin recognizes Xiao Wu; the identities and intentions of the two figures remain unresolved.
