Ch. 121Chapter 61
Chapter 61 Summary
Plot points and events
Qin Mu questions Cheng Lang about his plan to support Meng Tianye’s participation in Tomorrow’s Starlight as a way to promote Forest Style Milk Tea. Cheng Lang confirms the idea is strategically beneficial and low-cost. Qin Mu is not jealous, however, because he is confident Cheng Lang would not choose someone as troublesome as Meng Tianye.
Their conversation shifts to their relationship. Cheng Lang admits he has been too busy to contact Qin Mu during the past two weeks, while Qin Mu reveals that he had deliberately waited to see when Cheng Lang would remember him. Feeling guilty, both promise to call, message, and video-chat each other regularly.
Qin Mu then impulsively pins Cheng Lang down, but refuses to take their intimacy further at the club. He insists that their first time should happen at home, and they agree to go to Qin Mu’s place after Cheng Lang’s performance. Qin Mu arranges to leave work early afterward, though his embarrassment is evident despite his normally unreadable expression.
When Cheng Lang returns downstairs, Meng Tianye asks whether Qin Mu objected to their situation. Cheng Lang postpones the discussion because it is time for his performance. Onstage, a customer jokingly accuses Cheng Lang of flaunting his new relationship and pretending not to remember an old lover. Han Mingchen and Hu Li silently agree with the accusation, but immediately hide their reactions when Qin Mu looks at them.
Character development
- Qin Mu shows possessiveness, emotional vulnerability, and a growing willingness to communicate his needs. Although he remains restrained and expressionless, he is clearly affected by Cheng Lang’s neglect and is eager for greater intimacy. His insistence on having their first time at home reveals a sentimental, ceremonial side.
- Cheng Lang recognizes Qin Mu’s sensitivity and accepts responsibility for maintaining the relationship. He promises to be more attentive and reassures Qin Mu through affection and playful teasing.
- Meng Tianye appears nervous about Qin Mu’s opinion and remains unaware that Cheng Lang temporarily forgot their professional discussion.
- Han Mingchen and Hu Li continue to view Cheng Lang and Qin Mu’s relationship with amused, knowing approval.
Significant themes
- Communication and relationship responsibility: Both men acknowledge that affection requires regular effort, especially when work keeps them apart.
- Jealousy and reassurance: Qin Mu’s restrained jealousy contrasts with Cheng Lang’s teasing, but their promises help establish trust.
- Public versus private intimacy: Cheng Lang is openly playful in public, while Qin Mu wants their most important romantic milestone to happen privately and meaningfully.
- Humor and emotional restraint: Qin Mu’s stoicism and Cheng Lang’s teasing create a lighthearted contrast that conceals genuine emotional vulnerability.
Character interactions
Qin Mu and Cheng Lang share affectionate teasing, a kiss, mutual promises, and an embarrassed but meaningful discussion about their first time together. Cheng Lang briefly reassures Meng Tianye before performing. During the performance, Cheng Lang jokes with an audience member who pretends to be an abandoned former lover, while Han Mingchen and Hu Li react humorously from the VIP booth.
