Two months later, Magnolia
"Ah, we're finally here. That journey was exhausting." Qian Guang stretched atop the carriage.
"Wouldn't have been so bad if you hadn't insisted on wandering into forests to gather herbs instead of taking proper roads." Mirajane, dressed in a mature purple outfit, spoke irritably.
Qian Guang had bought the three of them some clothes in a town they had passed through earlier. Looking at Mirajane in her purple, mature outfit, he could not help sighing at how early kids in this world matured. Compared to her, Lisanna in her light blue dress was far cuter.
"Hey, hey, if we hadn't gone looking for herbs, would we have found that castle? Would we have run into its owner suddenly falling ill? Would we have gotten all that money?"
Mirajane was left speechless. She snorted and turned away. She had become much brighter these days. Though she still could not accept her arm, seeing her brother and sister smile had gradually helped her open up.
Along the way, Qian Guang had taught everyone his Healing Magic. However, whether it was because they were incompatible with it or something else, neither Mirajane nor Elfman could learn it. Qian Guang, who had wanted to see Elfman become a nurturing dad, had been disappointed for quite some time.
Lisanna could use a little of it, but it was only slightly faster than medicine. Qian Guang had already decided that the three of them should learn Take Over Magic like in the original story.
Lisanna was quite satisfied with herself. Though she was a complete disaster at magic, she had quite a talent for studying and brewing potions. She could even help select herbs in daily life, unlike those two useless ones, one big and one small.
Thinking that, Qian Guang shot a fierce glare at Mirajane, who had her chin raised proudly, and Elfman, who had his head lowered timidly.
Mirajane looked at the bustling streets and sighed. "It's so lively. It's much better than our old village."
"That's for sure. This is one of the largest cities, after all."
"Are we going straight to Fairy Tail?" Mirajane asked as she looked at the street food stalls.
Noticing Lisanna and Mirajane's gazes, Qian Guang casually bought several snacks and handed them over. "Let's buy a house first. Now that we have money, we should find somewhere to live. That way, we'll have a home."
"A home?" Mirajane accepted the food. She was touched by Qian Guang's thoughtfulness, but more than that, she longed for the word he had said.
Lisanna, on the other hand, happily took hers and began eating, teasing her brother by repeatedly holding the snack out and pulling it back.
The group arrived at a place that sold houses and stated their requirements—a two-story building with a backyard.
The agent brought them before a house. The appliances inside were all furnished, with only a little dust. The first floor had a living room, dining room, and storage space. The upper floor had six rooms, as well as a small attic. The backyard was quite large, enough to satisfy Qian Guang's desire to grow herbs.
"Not bad. We'll take it. How much?" Qian Guang was very satisfied with the house. Little Lisanna had already run off to pick a room, while Mirajane said nothing but was secretly thrilled. She was already preparing to clean the place.
"Two million J, sir."
"That expensive? What a rip-off."
"How could it be? This is a prosperous district in the city. And it's nearly three stories with a garden. The price is very reasonable." The agent did not look down on them just because they were children. After all, everyone knew how destructive the red-haired little girl from the city's guild could be.
"Fine, fine. We'll take it at that price." Seeing Mirajane already cleaning with her brother and sister, Qian Guang no longer cared. Still, losing half the reward from saving that man last time in an instant made his heart ache.
"You have excellent taste, sir. I wish you and your girlfriend a happy life."
"Who's his girlfriend?!" Mirajane's face reddened. With only one hand, she snapped the broom she was using. Terrifying.
The agent merely smiled without changing expression, said goodbye to Qian Guang, took the money, and left.
"Seriously, what kind of person was that?"
"Hehe, Sister's blushing." Lisanna continued teasing her from the side.
"I'm not!" The sisters' cleaning quickly turned into horseplay.
"Alright, alright, stop messing around. Finish cleaning up. We still have to visit Fairy Tail later." Qian Guang hurriedly stopped them. He was afraid their new home would be demolished on the first day.
The group spent the rest of the time cleaning the house inside and out. They bought lunch outside midway through.
"I'm exhausted. This is much more tiring than researching potions." Qian Guang sprawled across the sofa.
"Get up. What did you even do? Elfman did most of the work. And don't you have wind magic?" Mirajane, wearing a headscarf and apron while holding a rag, chased him away.
Qian Guang looked at Mirajane, who kept her right hand covered by her cloak even at home, and pity flashed through his eyes. "A home is something you have to clean with your own hands to truly feel it."
Mirajane clicked her tongue, but did not argue. She enjoyed that feeling too.
"Come on. It's time to go see Fairy Tail." Qian Guang gently patted Mirajane's head.
Mirajane did not fall for that. She punched him in the stomach, snorted, and went to change clothes with a red face.
"Hehe, Sister's embarrassed."
"Do you think we can really join Fairy Tail? We don't know anything, and I have demon powers..." Mirajane thought of herself and spoke with confusion and fear.
"I told you not to show off your trophies. Defeating a demon alone without any magic power is incredibly cool, alright? It proves you protected everyone." Qian Guang took her grotesque arm in his hand and looked at her seriously.
Mirajane stared blankly at him. This time, she did not pull away. Her eyes were red as she tried not to cry.
"Besides, I have a secret weapon. Don't worry." Thinking of that letter, Qian Guang felt a little emotional too.
"Let's go!"
Looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar gates before him, Qian Guang was dazed once again. Seeing a scene from the anime of his past life appear right before his eyes was unbelievably exciting.
"Hey, children, what are you doing at the entrance? It's dangerous, you know." A voice sounded behind the four of them.
Qian Guang jumped and spun around, but saw nothing.
"Who is it?! Why won't you come out?!"
Lisanna awkwardly tugged at Qian Guang, who was staring at the little old man before her.
Makarov's face darkened. "That's a little rude, brat!" He jumped up and punched Qian Guang on the head.
"Ow!"
Only then did Qian Guang see the "enemy" clearly and respectfully called out, "Guild Master Makarov."
Makarov looked at the children before him. One had astonishing magic power, far beyond what someone that age should possess. Another had very little magic power, but carried an uncomfortable aura. However, a glance at the cloak made him understand.
"Anyway, come inside first." With that, he pushed open the door and walked in.
Then—
The guild master flew back out at an even faster speed.
"Guild Master!" Qian Guang shouted as he helped Makarov up.
Mirajane and the other two saw the scene inside. A pink-haired boy was fighting a pervert who had stripped down, while an armored woman tried to stop them. Yet somehow, it had become a one-against-two fight. A little girl around their age was drinking, while a crowd of adults cheered from the side.
Plates, wine glasses, tables, chairs... everything was flying through the air.
Makarov felt utterly humiliated. He had just invited other people's children inside, only to be thrown out by his own guild members.
Makarov stood up!
Makarov charged inside!
Makarov grew larger!
Makarov stomped several children beneath his foot!
"Quiet down, you bastards," Makarov said in his enlarged form.
The scene fell quiet, but only briefly. Then even louder cheers erupted.
"Yo, Guild Master, you're back."
"Come have a drink, Guild Master."
"The Magic Council didn't give you any trouble, did they?"
Makarov could not stay angry in the face of that scene. He slowly shrank back down. "Honestly, if you know that, then cause fewer problems."
The four at the door looked at the even more chaotic scene and wondered if this was really a proper guild.
"Alright, brats, what do you want?" Makarov sat atop the counter with a cup of wine in hand, looking at the four of them.
Nearby, Natsu and Gray had grown tired from fighting and looked at them curiously as well.
"Guild Master Makarov, we want to join Fairy Tail." Seeing the nervous expressions of the other three, Qian Guang stepped forward.
"Oh? Why?" Makarov asked with narrowed eyes.
"Because..."
Qian Guang looked at Mirajane. She struggled for a moment, then steadied herself and revealed the hand she had hidden. "Because of this."
Natsu's eyes lit up upon seeing the demon arm. "What is that?! It's so cool! I want one too, damn it!"
Mirajane had thought everyone would look at her strangely, and she had already prepared herself for it. Yet not a single person did.
"What is that? A demon arm?"
"That's amazing. You can control something like that at such a young age. You'll definitely become an incredible mage someday."
"Damn it! I want one too!"
Mirajane looked around blankly. No one had ever praised her because of this arm. Ever since she had gotten it, all she had received were curses and rejection. Her eyes gradually reddened, and she bit her lip hard to keep her tears from falling. With a snort, she turned her head away.
Elfman and Lisanna had already burst into tears. Along the way, only Qian Guang had never rejected them.
Makarov looked at the three siblings and had already guessed they had a painful past. "It must have been hard."
Qian Guang told him about what they had gone through, but he told only Makarov. No matter how anxiously Natsu tried to listen, he could not hear a thing, with Makarov firmly holding him down.
After hearing Qian Guang's story, Makarov was furious, but there was nothing he could do. Their ignorance was difficult to change. "It's alright. I'll get you some books on Take Over Magic later. Once you learn it, you'll be able to control it. If there's anything you don't understand, just ask me. From now on, Fairy Tail will be your family."
The little girl tightly hugged her sister. She was especially happy today. They had a home of their own, her sister's arm had been accepted, and they had joined a guild.
Qian Guang looked gently at the three of them as Makarov had someone take them to receive their Fairy Tail emblems.
"And what about you, child? I see hatred in your eyes. The same hatred most of the children here carry, though you hide it well." Makarov looked at Qian Guang again, and his words made Qian Guang unable to remain calm.
Qian Guang remembered that day again, but he quickly adjusted his emotions and handed the letter in his arms to the guild master.
"This is a letter my grandfather asked me to give you."
Makarov opened the letter. The familiar handwriting made his body stiffen. Recalling the hatred in Qian Guang's eyes, he abruptly looked up at him.
Qian Guang lowered his head in sorrow. Makarov understood. "So that's how it is." He silently looked at the letter before him, seeming to age considerably in an instant.
"Go get your emblem, child. Don't worry. We aren't like that old fool who irresponsibly abandoned you alone."
"Thank you, Guild Master."
"Tch, troublesome brat. If you keep being so polite in the future, I'll beat you up."
Makarov took a sip of wine and murmured in a voice only he could hear, "Lei En, you said your Healing Magic would surely outlive me. Looks like I won. Still, you have a good grandson."
When Qian Guang found the three of them, they were happily admiring their emblems. Their placements were the same as in the original story. Mirajane's was on her thigh—quite the treat for thigh lovers. Very playable... Cough, cough, never mind.
Elfman's was on his neck. Though he did not have the muscles he would gain in the future yet. Hmm, it looked rather out of place.
Lisanna's was more normal, on her shoulder. The little girl looked like a tiny fairy right now, and the guild members all liked her very much.
"So, where do you want your emblem?" the guild member asked.
"Under my eye." Qian Guang chose a smaller one beneath his eye near his temple. It did not ruin his looks and even added a strange sort of charm. When he let his hair down normally, it would not be easy to see.
"Hey, hey, I'm Natsu Dragneel. What magic do you use? Want to fight? I'm a Dragon Slayer Mage."
After being held down for so long, Natsu suddenly appeared before Qian Guang. Great, another violent maniac. But Qian Guang had no desire to fight him, at least not today. It was their first day having a home, and he wanted to go back and make something good to eat.
"Ah, I use Healing Magic, so I can't really fight. But if you get hurt in the future, you can come find me."
"Really? That kind of magic is rare." Gray, who had somehow stripped down to only a pair of shorts, spoke from nearby.
"Hey, Gray, your clothes."
"When did that happen?!"
So he really was a pervert. Qian Guang covered Lisanna's eyes. Don't look. Pretty eyes did not need to see such filthy things.
On the other side, for some reason, Mirajane and Erza had gotten into a confrontation. Sparks practically flew from their stares. Qian Guang was speechless, because he had no idea how those two had clashed in such a short time. Was it plot setting?
"Oh, right. Qian Guang, do you have somewhere to live? The guild has dormitories." Makarov asked, drunkenly opening his eyes.
"Huh? There are dormitories? How much are they?"
"Two thousand J."
Mirajane and the other two looked at Qian Guang in confusion. Had they not just bought a house? Why was he asking about the dormitories?
"I see. That's pretty cheap. Go on, Elfman." Qian Guang picked Elfman up and tossed him toward the guild master. "Sorry to trouble you, Guild Master. He needs a dormitory room. We have a place outside."
Lisanna and Mirajane stared at him with dark expressions. He was beyond saving. Absolutely beyond saving.
"Why me, Brother Qian Guang? I already picked a room earlier."
"Shut up! Elfman, a real man starts living independently long before reaching your age. Yet you still want to live with your sisters. Go to the dormitory. That's the only way you'll go farther." Qian Guang spoke righteously, though what he really thought was that having two little sisters was enough. Elfman was unnecessary.
"Brother Qian Guang, my room..." Elfman felt utterly wronged.
"It's fine. I'll use it to dry herbs." Qian Guang looked delighted.
"Go to hell!" But he celebrated too soon. Mirajane kicked him away, then snorted and took Elfman's hand as she sat down.
Makarov was delighted by the scene. At least this child had found family again. "Alright, brats! To welcome our newcomers, let's throw a party!"
"Oh!!!!" ×n
In an instant, the guild returned to its noisy state. Yet this time, the four of them felt warmth amid the chaos.
