DeSaad's Purpose

That was precisely why Darkseid was so furious. He felt betrayed!

"I trusted you so much, and this is how you repay that trust?"

Darkseid looked at DeSaad and spoke coldly. If he had not known DeSaad for so long and trusted him so deeply, he would have suspected DeSaad of contacting the enemy and having them attack Apokolips. This was practically having a pig for a teammate!

The enemy had charged forward without resistance and was nearly at their doorstep, yet he had only just learned about it!

"I entrusted Apokolips's daily affairs to you because I trusted you, not so you could hide things from me!"

Darkseid's anger rose as he spoke. If not for the powerful enemy before them, he would have killed this fool with a single Omega Beam!

"Darkseid, listen to me."

DeSaad was not flustered in the slightest. Instead, he looked at Darkseid and spoke.

Darkseid forcibly suppressed his rage and waited for DeSaad's excuses.

DeSaad spoke unhurriedly. "Darkseid, do you know where the enemy came from?"

"You never told me, so how would I know?"

Darkseid replied coldly. He had not yet had time to ask Granny Goodness where the enemy had come from. He only knew that someone had suddenly invaded Apokolips itself and was heading straight for where he was.

The Parademon army had been utterly incapable of stopping the enemy's advance, making Darkseid realize the severity of the situation. More importantly, though, he needed to deal with DeSaad's problem, so he summoned him directly.

"Earth."

DeSaad said, "Steppenwolf died there."

Upon hearing that, Darkseid's expression turned grave. He looked at DeSaad, who understood what he meant and said directly, "That's right. The Kryptonians have come."
