Black stalactites gleamed with a cold, eerie light, while the drip-drip of falling water echoed through the deathly silence of Ryūchi Cave.
Following behind Anko, Obito Uchiha and Kurenai Yuhi exchanged a glance, both feeling a chill run down their backs.
A bone-piercing gust suddenly rose through the empty valley. Countless inexplicable eyes emerged from the dark cavern, their temperatureless vertical pupils emitting a frigid gleam.

Obito shuddered, his Adam's apple bobbing. Kurenai clutched Anko's sleeve tightly, as though afraid she might suddenly leave.
"Hey! You bastards, get out of our way!"
Countless giant snakes emerged from the darkness. Their deep Snake Eyes carried an inexplicable chill, yet they merely circled the three of them slowly, flicking their tongues and hissing.
However, it was as if they had not heard Anko's command at all.
In the nearly lightless Ryūchi Cave, several beads of sweat seeped from Anko's forehead. She could not help clenching her fists. For the first time, these snakes had disobeyed the orders of their contractor.
"Mitaraishi Anko, leave this place! Lord Orochimaru does not permit anyone to approach... including you!"
A long white snake, no thicker than an arm and not particularly huge, slowly slithered out from among the snakes. Its cold vertical pupils stared directly at Anko.
That gloomy aura seemed to make Obito uncomfortable. He kept looking around, searching for something.
His gaze suddenly landed on the pitch-black cave entrance behind a giant snake. He had a feeling that Kato Osamu had to be inside!
"You disgusting stinking snakes! Hurry up and make way for Big Sis Anko!"
"Obito! Shut up!"
