Lu Ao finally understood. Lin Gongshang had only brought him here to catch razor clams as a side activity; the real purpose was to find a chance to be alone with Xiaohui on a date. It was rare for someone as carefree as him to come up with such a roundabout method.
Lu Ao waved a hand, unwilling to disturb them, and turned to head in another direction.
There were plenty of razor clams on this stretch of beach, and hardly anyone came here to catch them. At a glance, the sand was full of little holes made by razor clams. He held a bottle of salt by a hole and gave it a gentle squeeze. Before long, more often than not, a razor clam would poke its head out.
Once he got the hang of it, Lu Ao was no longer satisfied with squeezing salt into one hole and waiting. He simply cast a wide net, sprinkling salt into three holes at once, then crouched beside them. Whichever razor clam surfaced first, he caught first.
This demanded extremely quick reflexes. Even when watching a single hole, many people often failed to react in time and let the razor clams escape.
Yet Lu Ao watched three holes without making a single mistake, grabbing one in each hand with crisp, efficient movements.
After a little over half an hour, he had caught more than half a bucket. By rough estimate, there were at least six or seven pounds.
That was enough for him and Song Zhou to eat. He took a look and headed back with the bucket.
Lin Gongshang and Xiaohui were talking with their heads close together. Neither of them had taken catching razor clams very seriously, and when Lu Ao returned, their catch only formed a thin layer
