Coconut Snail shells were famously hard. Ordinary people usually used one of three methods to eat Coconut Snails.
Some simply smashed the Coconut Snail's shell with a large iron hammer, then removed and cleaned the meat. That made it easy to crush the meat, and fragments of shell could easily remain in it.
Others boiled the snail in water before removing the meat. The drawback was that it could easily become overcooked, and some of the flavor would be lost.
Others took a shortcut, hooking the snail meat with a large iron hook and dangling it. Supposedly, under the pull of gravity, the Coconut Snail would shed its shell, allowing the meat to be removed easily.
Lu Ao needed none of those methods.
He was tremendously strong. Meat that others could not extract, he pulled out with ease.
He scored the extracted snail meat and sliced it thinly. Once the wok was hot and fragrant with wok hei, he poured in the meat and stir-fried it over high heat, taking it out as soon as it was just cooked through.
"Dinner's ready—"
Lu Ao called out and carried the snail meat outside.
Steam billowed from the snail meat, dotted with rich reddish-brown sauce that occasionally trickled down. It looked exceptionally appetizing.
Song Zhou helped serve the rice. "The dishes smell great today."
"I think so too." Lu Ao swallowed. "I'll go bring out the Crab-and-Lamb Hotpot."
The two prepared to eat. On the table were a Crab-and-Lamb Hotpot, stir-fried snail meat, and stir-fried pumpkin. Just three simple dishes, yet they gave off an indescribable fragrance.
Lu Ao tasted a slice of Coconut Snail first. The milky white meat was coated in reddish-brown sauce and still steaming. The moment he shoved it into his mouth, its freshness, crispness, and heat exploded
