Background

Lu Ao was a twenty-four-year-old supermarket owner in Xiding City. After a gambler named Liao Hekang falsely claimed Lu Ao was his boyfriend to evade loan-shark debt, a group of debt collectors pursued Lu Ao through the city. Injured and trapped at a riverbank, Lu Ao jumped into the river rather than submit to the mob. 1 7

He survived in the body of a small, lizard-like creature and was rescued by fishermen. As his appetite, strength, senses, and need for the sea intensified, he abandoned his city life, rented out his supermarket, and returned to his coastal hometown to become a fisherman. 4 11

Song Zhou later confirmed that Lu Ao had fused with a Young Dragon bloodline and was no longer fully human. The Agency registered him as an anomalous individual, though neither Song Zhou nor the Agency could predict the long-term effects of the unprecedented human–Dragon fusion. 24
