With a flick of Manus's finger, the bright star vanished from his fingertips, leaving a visible trail in the air.

Such an obvious trace did not affect the spell's accuracy in the slightest, because it moved as fast as a real meteor—or rather, at the speed of the fastest-falling meteor Manus had studied.

It was a meteorite that had collided head-on with the Earth in orbit, falling at nearly seventy kilometers per second relative to the planet at the time—what did that speed mean?

It meant that even if you saw the flash and immediately tried to react, the time required for that reaction was already enough for the spell to cross seventeen kilometers. The time needed for the body to dodge or defend would be even longer.

Rather than continuing to delve deeper into Gungnir, Manus had focused on pure Astral Observation Magic and still developed a spell that had no such thing as guaranteed hits in practical use, yet could almost guarantee a hit.

Severus and Lily froze for a moment before following the slowly dispersing trail in the air to the spell's point of impact. The training dummy had been pierced through the chest.

Unfortunately, because the spell currently pursued stability too much—the stability during casting increased its average power, while its stability in flight increased its maximum range—the crystal no longer possessed its original powerful corrosive effect.

Manus's current plan was to eventually calculate the distance in real time during combat and control the constraints on its energy, allowing the crystal to lose its restraints and explode apart after striking the target.

That would produce secondary and tertiary damage through crystal explosions and energy corrosion.

Although that might make the calculations required for casting too demanding, to the point of diminishing its
