The Ministry of Magic had failed to get anything out of them. Or rather, the members of that group themselves did not know who had commissioned them.

That explained why they had gone to rob Gringotts.

Logically, as a group willing to take theft commissions, they should have valued their business reputation even more than ordinary merchants. Without laws to guarantee anything, their reputation was the only basis on which clients could trust them.

Yet they did not know Gringotts was their client. Even if they wanted to preserve their reputation, that did not stop them from robbing Gringotts.
