The Power of a Volcanic Eruption

After that, the Margaret Family recovered the Dragon Robe—the robe had proven even more durable than Manus had imagined. Of course, that might also have been due to the unique compatibility of magic in this world.

Just as the magic of this world was generally incapable of piercing a Basilisk's scales, most magic here was not particularly physically destructive in itself.

In other words, either someone wore the Dragon Robe and got blown up immediately, or it was left beneath the volcano to charge, after which it could be used safely for a while.
