"Got a little too absorbed. I almost failed to keep up the act."

On the way back to the dormitory from the Room of Requirement, Manus let out a breath and silently reflected on what he had just done.

Flitwick truly deserved his reputation as a former dueling champion. The data that could be gathered and referenced from his performance in the duel had been far too rich and comprehensive, causing Manus to become engrossed without realizing it and forget to control his strength.

The amount of magic power was not much of an issue. Given the ratio at which wizards in this world converted stamina into magic, even first-year students were unlikely to run out of magic from casting spells.

But the strength of spells brought about by magic power could be sensed during casting. He needed to keep suppressing the effects at all times, or he would easily give himself away.

"The magical strength I displayed just now should have been weaker than Flitwick's. Only a little over seventy percent... around eighty percent, maybe. Though I don't know whether that level is outrageous..."

Manus suppressed the faint unease in his heart.

"But it should be fine, right?"

There was no helping it. Compared to having his magical strength fluctuate wildly and look even more suspicious, it was better to maintain the level he had displayed and simply say that he developed faster than others. That would be more believable.

Since Flitwick had not said anything about it from then until they parted just now, it was probably within a reasonable range, right?
