The former was rooted in the material-energy side of things, and the balance it constructed was merely a slightly broader version of a narrow concept. It could not bear such a more expansive balance.

Though the latter could theoretically bear it... Manus did not fully understand the principles behind that magic to begin with. Over the years, he had spent much of his spare time studying the philosophical ideas that came with Qi Magic, and had only come to understand part of it—yet he could not say he completely understood it.

Manus constructed a simple magical structure capable of sealing the trait. Its framework was made of Righteous Qi and Black Qi, while its interior was completely empty, used only to temporarily seal this intangible trait.

Qi Magic happened to be perfectly suited to dealing with conceptual things like this. Otherwise, Manus would likely have had no way to keep it temporarily without anything capable of containing it.

Catching the distant sound, Manus turned off the hot water, dried himself, changed into his pajamas, and happened to encounter the Ravenclaw first-years as he walked down the corridor. This year, Ravenclaw had only two first-year boys, and Sybill was the only girl.

It was not just Ravenclaw; the other Houses had slightly fewer students as well. Only Hufflepuff appeared largely unchanged.
