Although Sybill did not argue loudly, she had undoubtedly revealed her dissatisfaction.
It seemed Tracey's subsequent measures had worked, while also proving something else... Sybill really did harbor thoughts that could endanger her life.
Manus glanced at her and said matter-of-factly:
"Yes, I simply won't interfere with your lifestyle or academic performance. But I did receive your father's help and make a deal with him. If you die while attending Hogwarts, it will put me in a difficult position."
"So, whether you plan to make your identity too conspicuous or join the Death Eaters and get into fights with other students, I will inform Tracey of anything that threatens your life—as the one your father entrusted with your guardianship, if he agrees to let you seek your death, then at least I can feel much more at ease."
"..."
Sybill opened her mouth but could not speak. Then she said somewhat agitatedly:
"This is my own business. Why can't I decide for myself? You know that I... I would rather die as a Trelawney! Can you understand that? You can't!"
"No one in this world can truly feel another's pain, but I can probably understand your line of thinking. You should know a little about Ravenclaw's usual style. We generally don't like meddling in other people's affairs."
Manus poured himself a cup of hot milk, then poured one for Sybill as well.
"If it weren't for my deal with your father, your actions that increase your risk of death truly would have nothing to do with me. But unfortunately, that deal exists, and I made it with your father, not you—have some hot milk. Sugar and fat can calm your mood and help you focus your thoughts."
Manus waited until Sybill took a sip of the hot milk before continuing.
