Mach Punch flashed past, draining Mightyena's last sliver of stamina and knocking it out.

Cynthia decisively switched in Combusken to trade blows with Gurdurr. The good news was that while its power was no weaker than Hariyama's, it was slower than Combusken's—after all, it no longer had the Speed Boost passed to it.

Combusken struck first with an Aerial Ace. The super-effective damage nearly took Gurdurr out in one blow.

Gurdurr retaliated with a Force Palm, taking out the full-health Combusken in one hit.

At this point, Cynthia only had Dottler, Shroomish, and Diglett left on her team.

Meanwhile, the opponent visibly had two Pokémon remaining: Combusken and the badly injured Gurdurr.

After thinking it over, Cynthia sent out Diglett to compete with Gurdurr in speed. It successfully moved first and finished Gurdurr with a Stomp.

After all, Diglett was the fastest Pokémon on her team. Since Combusken could outspeed it, Diglett could naturally outspeed Combusken as well.

That left the final showdown: three Pokémon against Combusken.

More precisely, the other two Pokémon had no role to play at all. Diglett used Magnitude twice and single-handedly shut down Combusken.

With that, Cynthia's second Gym battle finally ended in victory.
