Their situation was similar to that of the Clarkson Family, perhaps even worse.

The Clarkson Family's main business was commerce, so they had far fewer farmers and tenant households under them.

But these nobles had either originally been landed aristocrats or had become landed aristocrats after the War God incident, purchasing vast numbers of serfs.

Now, they had mortgaged all their land and all their businesses as well.

If something really went wrong this time, they might not even have enough money to feed their slaves...

"Go find Johnny the Actuary! I want to see what explanation he has!"

One of the nobles seemed to suddenly come to his senses. The others were jolted awake as well, rising abruptly as if they had spotted a lifeline.

Dozens of nobles rushed out of the gathering place and headed for the Futures Trading Gazette headquarters.

They acted like madmen, urging their carriages to go as fast as possible.

Although night had already fallen, Graycastle's capital was unusually brightly lit. Countless carriages were racing in the same direction.

It actually felt like a bustling stream of traffic.

When the nobles arrived at the Futures Trading Gazette, they discovered that the place was already packed.

They even saw many Church vehicles.

In the capital of the Graycastle Empire, they were not the only organization. There was another organization as well, called the Church Alliance.

It was an alliance formed by the countless churches established throughout the Graycastle Empire. They often gathered to hold events, just like the nobles did.
