Ren nodded. He knew about this. Hogue had sent him the list of guilds long ago. But Ren paid them no mind. Most were small or midsize guilds; the only large one was Phantom Lord.
Unfortunately for them, Phantom Lord was keeping its head down. Even after Magellan destroyed one of its branches, it had not dared say a word.
Jose Porla had little choice. When he joined the hunt for the Black Dragon and saw Madara Uchiha and the others in action, it shook him. He knew he was no match for them.
So Jose Porla pulled back his forces and dared not make a move, afraid that provoking them would bring them down on Phantom Lord and wipe it out.
Still, Jose Porla had not given up. He wanted to grow stronger, defeat Madara Uchiha, and take revenge on the Dimensional Guild. The struggle for Black Dragon Blood was his chance.
Jose Porla knew the Dark Magic he practiced would grow much stronger if he obtained the Black Dragon's blood. He also knew that Phantom Lord had once been Blue Skull.
Fairy Tail had destroyed Blue Skull, but it had not destroyed everything the guild had amassed. Some of what remained was the source of Jose Porla's confidence.
Unfortunately, he needed Black Dragon Blood to make use of it. Jose Porla gathered his guild's core members and abandoned its branches to their fate. He even hoped they would slow the Dimensional Guild down. Meanwhile, he set his sights on Black Dragon Blood. Once he had it and grown stronger—or put Blue Skull's legacy to use—he would fight back.
Ren knew nothing of Jose Porla's plans. Even if he had, he would not have cared. Any one of his subordinates could destroy Phantom Lord.
