However, Ren kept the cannon, its three shells, and the pistol. In the Naruto World, firearms were not useless, but they had limited use. A pistol could handle some Genin, but any alert Genin could evade it with a Substitution Technique. After all, the sound of a gunshot was far too loud and easily noticed.
Against Chunin, they were basically ineffective. Against Jonin, they were utterly useless; Jonin were far too alert.
That cannon, however, had some use. Its power far surpassed an Explosive Tag. If more Explosive Tags were added inside the shells, its power would become even greater. Unfortunately, only three shells remained, so it was not very useful. Otherwise, Ren truly wanted to take it out and blast a Tailed Beast for fun!
The second batch of trash was decent, but not especially good. It came from ancient Earth, and from a time of war. When Ren saw the words Yue Family Army, he knew it had come from the Yue Family Army of the Song Dynasty.
At first, Ren thought it was the Yue Family Army from some special world. After all, he remembered that Yue Family Armies had appeared in some powerful planes. Unfortunately, he was wrong. It was merely the Yue Family Army from an ordinary plane. The only gains were countless military tents, weapons and armor, and provisions.
It seemed this batch of trash had come from a warehouse, but it was completely useless to Ren.
Though these weapons were numerous, they were all cut apart by Ren's katana.
The only worthwhile finds were a chest of gold, silver, and jewels, along with several books on forging. Yes, books on forging. Who knew how ancient texts on weapon forging had ended up in that warehouse, only to be sent here along with everything else?
Although Ren knew that chest of gold, silver, and jewels was valuable, he did not care much for it. He was already wealthy, so he gave those things to his grandfather to exchange for money. As for the ancient forging texts and the weapons and armor, he sent them all to the Dog Clan.
Within the Dog Clan, Bully Dog and Bulldog were proficient in forging. Studying the Yue Family Army's forging techniques would count as some growth for them.
The two batches of trash had helped Ren very little. Judging by the timing, another batch should appear today. He just did not know what world it would come from this time!
As Ren pondered, the faint tremor from between his brows brought a smile to his face. "Is it here?"
As soon as he spoke, Ren vanished from the bedroom.
In the silent Trash Station, terrifying amounts of trash were pouring down.
Ren gazed at the vast water before him and said, "What world's trash is this? Why is there so much water?"
The trash that had appeared in the past had mostly been broken stones and chunks of wood. This time, however, it was an immense expanse of water.
As the water gradually calmed, a massive pirate ship fell into view.
Staring at the pirate ship, Ren's mouth twitched. "What is going on? Isn't this the Going Merry?"
The pirate ship before him was the Going Merry from the Pirate King World. In particular, it bore scorch marks, clearly from the sea burial in the Pirate King World, a funeral held for pirate ships. Yet after sinking to the bottom of the sea, it had somehow ended up here with Ren.
Ren's mouth twitched. The Pirate King World was an incredibly powerful world. But what use was a broken Going Merry? Could Luffy have left some treasure behind on board? Ren clearly remembered that everything on the Going Merry had been cleared out before its sea burial. In other words, it was an empty ship. Its only miraculous aspect had been its Ship Spirit. Yet clearly, the Going Merry no longer had a Ship Spirit!
Ren shook his head and looked at the many fish that had come along with the Going Merry. "These fish are the real harvest, I suppose!"
He sensed that this trash from the Pirate King contained no treasures at all. Still holding a trace of hope, Ren planned to take it to the Dog Clan and have Papillon search it thoroughly. Besides, he certainly wanted to properly taste the fish from the Pirate King World.
After thinking for a moment, Ren disappeared from the Trash Station.
Then he bit his finger, preparing to perform the Summoning Technique.
Just then, a maid's voice came from outside the bedroom. "Young Master... Miss Kushina came running over in tears. It seems something urgent has happened!"
Ren's eyes showed a trace of surprise. "Kushina is crying? Could something major have happened?"
Ren knew Kushina well. Over the past few months, although she had been ostracized at school, she had always dealt with those people through violence. Especially after Ren helped her, everyone in the class had become terrified after being taught a lesson by him. Logically speaking, no one at school would dare provoke Kushina anymore. Yet she had come to him in tears. Ren instantly became alert. Something serious must have happened.
Hearing this, Ren slowly left the bedroom and followed the maid toward the living room. The moment he entered, he saw Kushina running over with tears in her eyes before throwing herself directly into his arms.
Ren naturally wrapped his arms around Kushina. "What happened? You came to find me in such a hurry, and you're this upset?"
He gently stroked her beautiful red hair, breathing in its faint fragrance.
Kushina sobbed as she said, "Grandma... Grandma is dying, she is dying... Ren, you know Medical Ninjutsu. Please go save Grandma!"
Upon hearing this, Ren's pupils contracted. He immediately noticed that there were only two maids in the living room.
Looking at the two maids, Ren said, "Forget everything you heard today!"
His voice was stern and carried a warning.
The two maids instantly trembled and replied, "Yes, Young Master!"
Ren continued, "The two of you will stay here. Do not leave for any reason!"
The instant he finished speaking, Ren picked up Kushina and headed toward his bedroom.
Kushina's grandmother was dying, which meant Mito Uzumaki was dying. Who was Mito Uzumaki? She was the First Hokage's wife, as well as the Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki. If this news leaked out, the consequences would be terrifying.
Ren shook his head and looked at the confused Kushina. Her carefree nature clearly meant she did not understand what this represented.
Ren entered the bedroom. His grandfather had specially arranged this place; the gaps within the walls were filled with inscribed formulas. Thus, the entire room was like a barrier.
At that moment, Ren looked at Kushina. "What exactly happened?"
Mito's Critical Condition
Inside the bedroom, Kushina's voice was filled with tears.
Kushina said, "Grandma is going to die. They said Grandma is going to die. What should I do? In all of Konoha, Grandma is my only family."
With a sigh, Ren held Kushina close.
Mito Uzumaki's death was already unavoidable. She was too old. By Ren's calculations, she was at least seventy years old. In the Naruto World, living to seventy already counted as a long life. After all, this was not the peaceful era of later Naruto; this was an age of war.
Ren also understood why Kushina was so heartbroken, or rather, why it was so tragic. Though Kushina lived with the Senju Clan, many within the Senju Clan did not welcome her. After all, Kushina's arrival meant that Mito was nearing death.
Thus, the Senju Clan treated Kushina with cold words and colder faces. Only Mito cared for her. Although Nawaki and Kushina were friends, Nawaki was carefree by nature. How could he understand such matters? Tsunade understood, and she cared about Kushina as well, but Tsunade spent most of the year away on missions.
It could be said that in all of Konoha, aside from the few people who cared about Kushina—Ren, Mikoto, Nawaki, and the others—everyone else rejected her. As for ordinary people who did not know Kushina, they were kept away by the guards assigned to protect her. After all, Kushina was a future Jinchuriki and needed protection.
Of course, Kushina was not truly confirmed as the Jinchuriki. Among the Uzumaki Clan members who had come to Konoha, there was not only Kushina, but also Reiko Uzumaki. Ren had met Reiko Uzumaki a few times, but Reiko was currently training in Sealing Jutsu within the Senju Clan and rarely appeared.
Kushina continued crying. With her only family member about to pass away, she was naturally grief-stricken.
At this moment, Kushina said, "I didn't know where else to go, so I could only come running to you. And you know Medical Ninjutsu, Ren. Can you save Grandma?"
Ren gave a bitter smile. "Her lifespan is at its end. There is no way to replenish it. That is simply impossible."
Ren knew that perhaps he might obtain something capable of extending lifespan in the future, but he had nothing like that now. Besides, strictly speaking, he had no relationship with Mito Uzumaki in the first place. Why should he save her?
Kushina continued to cry, while Ren silently pondered. "Since Grandma Mito is about to pass away, how have they decided things?"
At his words, a look of fear appeared on Kushina's face.
Kushina understood what Ren meant, and her heart was filled with conflict. "I don't know... I heard Grandma say that my physique is more suitable, but Reiko's Sealing Jutsu is more advanced."
Hearing this, Ren stared at Kushina. "If possible, do not choose to become a Jinchuriki. A Jinchuriki's life is destined to be a tragedy!"
Kushina nodded. She was from the Uzumaki Clan, so she naturally understood what being a Jinchuriki meant. A monster would be sealed within her body, and she would suffer the disdain of countless people and endless indifference. A Jinchuriki was practically synonymous with tragedy, as well as loneliness. Kushina was already lonely enough, so naturally she did not want to become even lonelier.
