Feeding a Fruit to the Cloth
A gentle breeze stirred the wisps of cloud and mist, lending the place an otherworldly air.
Ren sipped his red wine and looked at Gan Fall. "So... Roger might have known Sky Island's history, but you, its god, don't?"
"Well... that really is the case! There seems to have been some great war in Sky Island's past that destroyed its entire civilization. Very little survived, so we don't know much either. But during my time with Roger, I once heard him say that war could happen anywhere, and four people who were once united would eventually become enemies. Just like the three people on his own ship, who would one day grow apart!" Gan Fall said.
At that, Ren set down his glass and stood up. "War can happen anywhere, and four people who were once united will eventually become enemies. Roger said that?"
Gan Fall nodded. "Yes, those were his exact words. After saying that, Roger drank himself into a stupor. He seemed terribly sad!"
Ren fell silent as he gazed at Sky Island before him, aware of the weight of history it held.
