The message carved into the stone tablet left Ren silent.

His gaze turned grave. "So that's how it was!"

In moments, Ren had finished reading the tablet and understood Sky Island's past.

Sky Island had not always existed. Four powerful people had created it. One wielded the Cloud-Cloud Fruit. He was formidable: not only had he awakened its power, he had gone Beyond Awakening and fused with the fruit itself. This was the third stage described in Roger's notes—rousing the Devil within the Cloud-Cloud Fruit, defeating and devouring it, then gaining complete mastery over the fruit and merging with it.

Having brought the Cloud-Cloud Fruit to the third stage, the man possessed terrifying power. He used it to transform his surroundings, turning the sea below Sky Island, near Mock Town, into clouds. Then he raised that vast expanse into the sky, forming Sky Island.

In other words, Sky Island had once been a vast island on the surface. His power transformed the entire thing into clouds and lifted it into the sky. Everything on the original island became cloud, giving Sky Island clouds with all manner of properties.

Seawater could not be transformed, so it remained within the clouds and formed a sea of clouds.

Ren could not help but marvel as he read. "The Cloud-Cloud Fruit isn't especially strong among Logia powers. But taking a Logia to the third stage makes it this terrifying? If the Rumble-Rumble Fruit reached that stage, could it turn an entire island into lightning?"

Still impressed, Ren kept reading.

Of the four people recorded on the tablet, another had wielded the Mythical Zoan Angel-Angel Fruit. He too had taken his fruit to the third stage, merging it completely with his body and bloodline. His descendants inherited angelic blood, naturally powerful physiques, and even angelic
