Retsu Unohana glared at the darkness spreading across the sky, her sharp gaze fixed on it as though it were Ren himself. "Damn it... If this darkness has appeared, that Black Menos Grande must be connected to the mysterious Ren! He may even have sent it here! That would mean Ren is in the Soul Society too! Damn it... What is he doing here?"
Retsu Unohana looked puzzled, and the other Death God captains were just as confused. They recognized the darkness as the kind Ren had released before. Why had he come to the Soul Society, and why had he brought a Menos Grande with him? More importantly, what was he here to do?
Lost in those questions, they paid little attention to the Menos Grande mask being swallowed by the darkness overhead.
Aizen, on the other hand, watched with curiosity while suppressing a sudden longing.
He narrowed his eyes and quietly wrapped his Spiritual Pressure around the Hōgyoku in his robes. Naturally, he kept a treasure like that with him at all times. Now it was yearning to consume the mask in the sky. Aizen merely adjusted his glasses and smiled as though nothing were amiss.
Inwardly, however, he was thinking, Interesting... So someone important stands behind that Black Menos Grande. I never expected it to be the mysterious Ren. And from the looks of things, he has ties to Mayuri Kurotsuchi. Perhaps Mayuri has even joined him outright.
Aizen needed only the darkness before him, the Menos Grande's earlier appearance, and Mayuri's recent changes to piece together their connection. But what would he do with that knowledge? Expose them? Threaten Mayuri? He was hardly that foolish. Aizen had committed plenty of misdeeds in secret himself. Rather than objecting to their alliance, he found himself impressed.
