The sternly worded letter of protest eventually made its way to Southshore. Everyone in the council chamber listened to the contents of the official letter with grim faces.
The Kingdom of Stormwind's aid was gone. Southshore could no longer provide additional food to help the Raven Guard Knights expand.
The shortage of timber and minerals was not a problem; Hillsbrad's local production was also high. But the reduction in cloth would severely affect Southshore's trade. They needed to buy large quantities of cloth elsewhere to fill the gap.
"What does it matter if we no longer have their aid? We endured the Undead tide through the fighting of the kingdom's survivors. Food, timber, and ore are not problems. We merely need to spend money on a batch of cloth, and Southshore can still afford it."
"Stop looking like the sky has fallen. Could the Kingdom of Stormwind support us for ten or twenty years? This day was bound to come sooner or later. There is nothing wrong with getting used to it early. If we want to restore the kingdom, we must ultimately rely on our own strength."
Mayor Heni Mareb's speech began to lift the Town Council's spirits. This undertaking would ultimately have to be accomplished by their own hands. Southerners could not be relied upon in the end. Aid was naturally a good thing, but its absence would not affect Southshore's overall situation.
The Hillsbrad region was unquestionably fertile and rich in resources. Its output of food, timber, and ore was astonishing.
The frenzied land reclamation around Watchtower Village had greatly expanded the total area of cultivated land. The lands on both banks of the Hillsbrad River were extremely fertile. By the Holy Light, there was ample rain and sunlight. The food yield might reach a staggering figure.
