Several hundred knights adjusted their horses' speed, forming several inverted triangular formations into a massive arrowhead array as they began to accelerate slowly.
Pale yellow, undying mist drifted in the distance, indicating that the enemy outnumbered the cavalry led by Marlene. This was the largest Undead force they had encountered in the wilderness over the past few days.
Marlene spotted a group of robed Undead mages in the middle of the enemy formation. They had also seen the massive human cavalry force and were hurriedly directing the Ghouls and Undead guards to shift formations, creating a protective wall before them.
The dim-witted Undead soldiers were now in complete chaos. These Undead mages might have been highly skilled in necromancy, but they certainly had little experience commanding soldiers in battle. Yet these poor commanders were precisely the backbone of the Scourge's fighting force.
Unless they held an absolute numerical advantage, human armies could utterly crush these dead troops when their numbers and quality were roughly equal.
"For the Holy Light, charge!"
"Kill these Undead scum!"
"The Holy Light is with us!"
Amid all the roaring battle cries, the knights began to accelerate. Marlene, leading from the front, remained at the head of the first charge.
The Undead mages could accomplish little in such circumstances. The spells they excelled at were completely countered by the Holy Light. Knights imbued and blessed from head to toe with Holy Light were unaffected by fear or charm, while the single-target power of Shadow Bolt could not shake such a massed charge.
Rain of Fire was equally ineffective against these knights, whose magic resistance had greatly increased. The shadow monsters and undead warriors they summoned were even more helpless. The Holy Light's suppression of Undead and shadow magic left them with no means to fight back.
