The next morning.
Saitama was woken by the sunlight shining in his eyes.
When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was white.
Not the white of a ceiling. White in every direction—white walls, white floors, a white ceiling, the vast kind of white without even a single window.
He froze for two seconds before remembering.
Oh, right.
This was the new house Genos had built overnight yesterday.
He sat up and looked around.
The living room was huge.
Really huge.
How huge? He had casually found a corner, sat cross-legged, and fallen asleep there last night. Now, getting up and walking to the nearest wall took seventeen steps.
Seventeen steps.
In that rundown apartment in Z City, it had only taken six steps from the door to the balcony.
"..."
Saitama stood in the middle of the living room and turned in a circle.
It was completely empty.
There was no sofa, no table, no television, no refrigerator—nothing. Just spotless white walls and gleaming floors, reflecting the morning light pouring in through the enormous floor-to-ceiling windows, bright enough to hurt his eyes.
He looked down at the corner where he had slept last night.
There was a faint impression on the floor from where he had sat cross-legged.
That was all.
"This is way too empty."
He muttered it with genuine distress in his voice.
Anyone else moving into a house this big would probably be jumping for joy. But all Saitama could think was—
Walking is such a pain.
Cleaning would be exhausting.
With a place this big, how long would mopping the floor take?
He walked over to where the kitchen was supposed to be.
Calling it a kitchen was generous. It was really just an empty patch of floor in front of a wall.
