Bai Zhu flung his Light Rope toward another steel cable and sailed over the intersection.
The roof beneath him suddenly lit up.
Its tiles turned into mirrors.
The change spread down the street. Walls, paving stones, vessels, metal rings—all reflected him.
Tens of thousands of skeletons raised their arms at once.
Their fists remained where they were, but the attacks in their shadows had already reached Bai Zhu.
Bai Zhu tilted his head to dodge a punch and swept his Guan Dao across, driving back two feet reaching from the right. A third fist shot up from beneath the eaves and struck the sole of his boot.
Bang!
Bai Zhu was launched into the air.
Ripples spread across a mirror overhead. Hecatos emerged halfway from it and struck at Bai Zhu's chest with his palm.
"I've been waiting for you!"
The Light Rope pulled taut.
The cable yanked Bai Zhu away. Hecatos's feather-armored palm skimmed past his waist, tearing another piece from his coat of flame and snapping the cloth sash around his waist into several strips.
Bai Zhu used the pull to flip onto another roof and slashed his Guan Dao downward.
Flames burrowed into the mirror, scorching black patches across the roof. Hecatos withdrew the arm he had just extended, then thrust it out of a wall ahead.
Every time Hecatos attacked, he struck exactly where Bai Zhu was about to land.
Bai Zhu switched cables. Hecatos adjusted with him.
When Bai Zhu headed for a roof, Hecatos hid inside it first.
Hecatos had accounted for the start of Bai Zhu's Shunpo, the direction of his blade, even how far the Light Rope would pull him.
