"Did you think I'd let you have your way?!" Ace burst out laughing, transforming into a man of fire as he appeared before Aokiji. He threw a punch, and surging flames like a torrent instantly melted the spreading ice into fresh water.
Aokiji's eyes widened in surprise. The intelligence had mentioned that they had a Logia Devil Fruit user, but it had said that user possessed the Rumble-Rumble Fruit. It had never mentioned anyone with the Flame-Flame Fruit!
"Ace!!!" The furious voice of the old Vice Admiral rang out from behind him. "Why are you hanging around with that brat Dragon?!"
At the sound of that voice, the man of fire shuddered, and his flames dimmed slightly.
"Damn it, old man!!" Before his eyes could even blur, Garp's iron fist, as large as a casserole, was already flying toward his face.
Seeing the dark gleam flowing over it, Ace immediately knew it was the Iron Fist of Love coated in Armament Haki.
He instantly retreated, fire blasting from his body and propelling him away at incredible speed. As he fled, he shouted, "Old man, are you trying to kill me?!"
"If you dare run off with Dragon, I might as well kill you right here!" Garp was furious enough for his lungs to explode. He only felt that he had utterly failed in raising him. Ace had said since childhood that he wanted to become a pirate, yet after becoming one, he had somehow gone off to join the Revolutionary Army. Why was his life so miserable?!
If Ace had joined the Marines, he could have trained in Marine Rokushiki and the techniques of all three types of Haki to his heart's content. Within a few years, he could have reached Vice Admiral and taken over
