Airship? Airplane?
"Has Enel arrived yet?" Leo asked the people beside him as they made their way upward along the enormous vine.
They were now ascending to the third layer of Sky Island.
In reality, Sky Island had far more than three layers. It consisted of several levels, and this enormous vine ran through every one of them, linking the clouds together.
Most of the clouds throughout Sky Island were habitable. Beneath the lowest cloud layer lay the White Sea, while the middle layer was the White Sea. Some areas could not be inhabited, and the only region with soil was the area around Jaya Island.
To expand the amount of farmland, everyone had moved up here. Houses made of clouds could be compressed with compression technology to easily form walls and furniture. However, quite a few people still lived below, mainly to keep watch over the prisoners and prevent them from damaging the workshops. Other than that, there was no particular reason.
If one wanted to live somewhere, the clouds were still far more comfortable.
And because this was a residential area, more confidential things could be kept here.
For instance, Enel's ultimate vehicle, the Ark Maxim, which Franky had spent over two months building—a craft that could fly into the sky and dive beneath the sea.
The Ark Maxim, which had looked bloated and fat in the original story, was now as sleek as a futuristic warship. It was a long, oval-shaped vessel, and when hovering over the clouds, it looked more like a rocket.
Its sides extended into triangular wings, like the supersonic fighter jets Leo had seen as a child. Those wings were made up of metal plates, which could form a powerful aerodynamic angle at high altitude to break through the resistance of the air.
