Chapter 032: Discipline Through Violence
An uncultured army is a foolish army.
"Hahaha, who do you think you are?" someone hidden in the crowd mocked Leo loudly.
He felt that since he was among the crowd and Leo didn't know them, Leo wouldn't be able to find him if no one snitched.
Leo chuckled. Not to mention William and Barbaro were now his men, but just having Sandersonia, who had mastered Observation Haki, here meant he had nowhere to hide.
"Sonia!" he called out.
Sandersonia, in sync with his thoughts, was already eager to teach the other party a lesson.
If Leo couldn't find the person, could she?
She was seen as her green hair instantly turned into a snake and charged into the crowd.
Then, a person was caught by the leg by a green snake formed from hair, lifted up, and dangled in mid-air.
Sandersonia's move was somewhat similar to the Marines' "Life Return." Her hair, as if alive, turned into a snake to grab the opponent. During combat, the snake-like hair could restrain the opponent's limbs, leaving them no room to fight back. After all, most people have two arms and two legs. Being entangled by hair, especially hair enhanced with Armament Haki, could not even be cut by swords, let alone struggled against.
In such a situation, ordinary people would face certain death, and perhaps even Logia users would suffer immense damage.
Of course, these small fries without bounties didn't require Armament Haki at all. She effortlessly lifted him with just her hair, a technique similar to Life Return.
This was a person weighing over a hundred pounds, yet he was grabbed by the ankle, lifted out, and dangled in mid-air, flailing and screaming in fear.
The strangeness of the strong individuals on the Grand Line exceeded everyone's expectations. This was precisely why Leo wanted to bring Sandersonia onto this ship.
She hadn't even transformed into her Snake-Snake Fruit form yet, but she had already intimidated everyone into immobility.
"Is this him?" Leo asked.
"It's him, no doubt about it," the towering Sandersonia stated confidently, her arms crossed, without even moving her hands.
"Hang him up. He's not participating in today's training."
Leo waved his hand and gave the order.
Rindou casually grabbed a rope, swung it, and hung the man from the mast.
"Next, everyone, eight per row. Get into formation within twenty seconds."
Leo roared.
Everyone jolted and began to find their positions.
Leo counted down inwardly, watching them transition from blind panic into crooked rows. He didn't correct them or say anything, just observed them fumbling on their own.
After twenty seconds, they finally stood in ten crooked rows, looking at Sandersonia with guilty eyes from the sides of the deck. They weren't afraid of Leo, but they were afraid of Sandersonia and the Kuja Pirates she represented.
Leo didn't need them to fear him; they would soon learn what hell was.
"First row, step forward." Leo called.
They unevenly took a step forward, creating a gap with those behind them.
"Now, follow me." Leo jumped down from the ship's railing and stood in front of the first row, arching his back.
Low laughter erupted from the crowd because the pose was utterly ridiculous.
"Sonia." Leo said, his expression unchanged, and simply gave an order.
His second sister's hair once again turned into green snakes and went to grab people.
Three more individuals were hung from the mast, destined to be either sunburnt or starved to death. This time, no one dared to make a sound.
"Get into my pose and squat down twenty times," Leo instructed the first row.
The first row felt embarrassed, but seeing Leo maintain the pose and just watch them, they let out a helpless sigh.
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three!"
"Four!..."
Leo initially did a few with them, but after the fourth, he just watched them.
The exercise looked comical, silly, and foolish, but doing twenty repetitions was unexpectedly exhausting for the waist and legs. Leo showed a slight smile. This was a common problem among pirates—they barely exercised at sea, and if they did, it was only their upper bodies. They had very little opportunity to train their lower bodies. Most pirates had large heads and thick necks, appearing robust, but their thin legs were truly a pitiful sight.
This was not common in the Marines. Most Marines had extremely scientific training methods and systematic exercises. Even Sengoku the Buddha, who hadn't exercised in a long time, had strong legs.
But pirates weren't so lucky. Famous examples include Kaido of the Beasts, Big Mom Charlotte Linlin, Blackbeard Marshall D. Teach, and among the Supernovas, Capone "Gang" Bege and "Monk" Urouge. They all had thick upper bodies and short lower bodies. While genetics played a role, compared to the Marines' tall and long-legged physique, there was certainly an imbalance. Leo's conclusion was that pirates were extremely negligent in training their lower bodies.
After the first row of eight people finished, they weren't out of breath, but their awkward stance clearly showed how sore their waists and legs were.
"Go to the last row."
"Next row, step forward!" Leo's face was stern. He wasn't joking with them but ordered them, row after row, to perform this strange movement.
If he were trying to humiliate them, he wouldn't have joined them. But if he were genuinely training them, this training was too peculiar, making everyone fall silent, wanting to see what he was up to.
This training was a mere trifle for their stamina, but the posture was incredibly peculiar, second only to the "fish leap" in strangeness. It was a rare exercise that worked the thighs, glutes, hamstrings, lower back, upper back, abdomen, and core muscles. Known as the squat, it was an essential exercise for building core strength. Because of its peculiarity, for those who didn't train their lower bodies, doing this movement suddenly caused their knees and gluteal muscles to spasm.
The state of many people's lower body muscle strength was almost immediately apparent.
Leo shook his head slightly. Their stamina was indeed good; many hadn't even broken a sweat yet. However, the training in this area proved his judgment correct.
Now, things were getting interesting.
At some point, a wooden stick appeared in Leo's hand. He lightly tapped it against his left hand, then looked at the crookedly standing group of people. Suddenly, he swung the stick.
