This was a resolve shared by everyone.
Yet even with that resolve, it did not stop them from mourning one another together.
To the Marines, these pirate comrades who were leaving were the ones in the greatest danger. They would sail with Leo toward the most dangerous places, fight the toughest battles, and chew through the hardest bones.
More importantly, their enemies were not only the Marines, but also pirates and the King's Army guards. Their mission was far more difficult than that of the Marine comrades who remained undercover in Marine bases.
And in the eyes of the pirate comrades, these Marines were the truly dangerous ones. Once discovered, death was their only path, and the chances of being discovered were simply too high. They were the ones in the greatest danger.
Since both sides saw the other as being in the most danger, the crying grew louder.
But no matter how reluctant they were to part, they ultimately had to go their separate ways.
The Marines did not know what they should do next—Leo had already explained this to them. It was nothing shameful: "The less they know, the less they can reveal after the Marines torture them in the future, and the better they can protect their pirate comrades."
