At night, on the outskirts of Yorknew City.
On the hillside stood a rock at just the right angle to overlook the mafia stronghold below. Ryan hid behind it, motionless as he maintained Zetsu. He had used up his sniper rounds today, switched to the dual blades, and locked his Ability, so he could not switch back. All he could do was carry the blades, stay hidden, and watch from afar.
The battle below had already begun.
Uvogin stood alone in the middle of the open ground. Opposite him were the four members of the Shadow Beasts: Worm, Porcupine, Leech, and Rabid Dog.
He had already sent the other members of the Phantom Troupe away, leaving only himself behind. He genuinely wanted a fight—a face-to-face battle. The Shadow Beasts might not have realized what was happening yet. They charged forward and immediately attacked.
Worm went first. It was an old-fashioned tactic: he dug up from underground, intending to drag Uvogin in and suffocate him to death. It was useless. Uvogin slammed his fist into the ground, blasting it apart. Worm was blown out and sent flying sideways. He landed a long distance away and did not move again.
Porcupine was second. The moment the Ko-hardened spikes on his body began to form, Uvogin kicked him and sent him flipping through the air. He looked utterly miserable. Half his bones were probably broken, and plenty of his spikes had snapped as well.
Leech was third. His Ability was disgusting. He spat out Nen leeches capable of burrowing into a person's body, and quite a few people had suffered because of them in the original story. But against Uvogin? They were useless. The instant Leech spat them out, Uvogin had already charged forward and smashed him in the face with one punch.
