1. Why the Uchiha were suspected by the higher-ups!
First, I have to apologize, because I had always thought the Uchiha were suspected because the Nine-Tails had Three Tomoe in its eyes during the Nine-Tails Attack.
Then a reader brought this issue to my attention, saying that the Three Tomoe in the Nine-Tails' eyes during the Nine-Tails Attack were merely a visual representation for readers to understand. In reality, no one else could see the Sharingan.
For the first several hundred episodes of the original work, the Nine-Tails Attack was always described as a "natural disaster." The Uchiha were only suspected because the Sharingan had the power to control the Nine-Tails.
And I was thinking, how could that be? How spineless would the Uchiha have to be to get driven into a corner of the village without any evidence at all?
I argued with him for ages, pulling up screenshots and digging through the original manga.
In the end, I found out—he was right. I had remembered it wrong.
That was fucking awkward, so I hurriedly apologized to him. But it also brought up an even more serious issue.
That was, Konoha's higher-ups had never had the slightest bit of evidence against the Uchiha from the very beginning! It was completely baseless! Just because they might have possessed that kind of power!
Honestly, that was entirely beyond my comprehension...
I had always thought Naruto's values were pretty messed up, only to suddenly discover that they could get even more messed up!
The fact that they were messed up did not really matter...
The important part was that it caused a serious disconnect between my understanding of the plot and the readers', and it directly overturned my earlier storyline!
Some readers had previously criticized me, saying the protagonist was too timid, that he was already invincible yet still followed rules when the higher-ups did not follow rules with him. And I was thinking, where the fuck did that Jiahao come from?
Weren't the higher-ups suppressing the Uchiha because the Nine-Tails had been controlled by the Sharingan?
Then, after losing that debate with the reader above, I realized the higher-ups really had not played by any rules...
They had literally driven the Uchiha into a corner based solely on the suspicion that they possessed weapons of mass destruction, without any evidence whatsoever.
And the key was that the Uchiha had fucking endured it!
This really was my problem. I thought I had watched the entire anime and read the manga so many times, and I even had the databooks, that I could not possibly get the original setting wrong.
But I got taught a harsh lesson!
I originally wanted to revise the earlier plot, but with the current chapter count, it was not easy to change anymore. So this book could only proceed according to this setting. Fortunately, only the clan massacre arc involved this issue, and I might still be able to fill in this plot hole later.
I apologize to everyone. My lack of professionalism as an author caused such a major oversight.
2. Regarding this book's plot and characterizations.
What I initially had in mind was that, as a transmigrator, the protagonist would have a completely modern way of thinking.
On top of that, neither of his lives had given him the sort of character setting where he lacked love. At most, he would be a little arrogant; he could not possibly start killing this person and that person right away.
So I wanted to first use external factors to drive the protagonist's actions in the early stages—that was, the main plot.
After the clan massacre arc ended and the timeline moved to the beginning of the original story, I would have the protagonist actively push the main plot forward through his sadistic personality.
For example, the protagonist was not interested in becoming Hokage, but Danzo provoked him. To kill Danzo physically and emotionally, the protagonist would let Danzo watch him become Hokage before killing Danzo.
That was roughly the idea.
But what if someone did not want to become Hokage?
For instance, if Obito provoked the protagonist, then the protagonist would unleash an S-rank Ninjutsu—Ride Rin!
And while he was at it, he would release Kaguya and have her personally tell Obito: "The Infinite Tsukuyomi is fake too~"
Then he would kill him!
That was why I stated from the very beginning that the protagonist was a shameless, bottomless, sadistic little brat. It was fine to understand him as pure CS too. This setting was very important to this book.
But since it was a new book and I was worried about disappearing, and since the protagonist was still young, I definitely did not dare write him that way early on.
I originally wanted to drag out the timeline through everyday scenes and let the plot follow the characters' personalities, but the more I dragged it out, the more scattered the plot became. Reader feedback was very poor, especially around chapters 30 to 40.
I could sense there was a problem, but I could not sort out exactly what it was.
Then a reader named Er Xiaopang pointed out the problem to me. He identified every single issue I had.
The general meaning was that the fun-seeker was not having enough fun, the invincible protagonist was not steamrolling everything, and yet the protagonist was gradually losing his goals.
I had my wife take a look, and it really was exactly like that.
And because the plot was too scattered, the conflict between Fugaku and the protagonist was not intense enough. It was clearly a storyline where the other side had picked a fight, yet I somehow made it feel like the protagonist was bullying others with his power.
On top of that, I was anxious because I could not write it well, which made the protagonist seem extremely hostile.
Fortunately, the protagonist was not a positive character to begin with. I reworked the details a little, and although there was not enough buildup for the conflict, it could barely be said to make sense.
Then I pulled the plot back together from the beginning and directly tied the clan head election and the assassination attempt on the protagonist into one arc.
I especially want to thank this reader. He did not just start flaming me; he genuinely helped me find the cause of the problem.
I am someone who listens to advice, so if you have any ideas or notice any problems, just say them directly.
An author's perspective differs from a reader's perspective, so problems of one kind or another are inevitable. Not to mention that language itself naturally creates deviations.
What the author thinks, what the author wants to express, and what the author ultimately expresses are not the same thing.
Likewise, what readers see, what readers understand, and what readers believe the author intended to express may not be the same thing either.
So you see, with so many steps in between, situations like "everyone clearly has similar thoughts, yet they still cannot understand each other" can easily happen.
╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ Alright, I have finished giving thanks, so now I am going to delete comments.
Hahaha, do not blame me. It hurts me too! Once the book is premium, it will not matter, but during the new-book period it really affects performance. So I hope everyone can post more paragraph comments and chapter comments. As for the review section, I also hope everyone can restrain themselves a little. Thank you~
3. Regarding the protagonist's characterization.
Let me make one final statement: under normal circumstances, the protagonist is a fun-seeker, more inclined toward everyday life, a snarky commentator, and a tsundere weirdo.
But when dealing with enemies, I will lay it all out this time and patch up the earlier parts as well: the protagonist is sadistic, a Cao thief, bottomless, shameless, inhuman, an inheritor of the Will of Conquest, and pure CS!!!
So stop saying things like—the protagonist has no humanity and is too violent!
I fucking stated it from the very beginning!!
4. The issue of female characters in the later plot.
Currently confirmed: Uchiha Izumi, Ino, Temari, and Rin.
Actually, I would like to add more, but the protagonist's personality makes it difficult to bring in female characters with personalities like Hinata's.
Of course, someone will definitely ask at this point: "Oh, author, author, but what if married Hinata and Sakura are really exciting?"
For that sort of thing, I recommend finding a professional website. But I read Spring and Autumn, so I do not really understand this stuff...
There will definitely be Cao thief plotlines! But there will be no coercion and no threats. After all, if you do not put your heart into it, how can it count as killing someone emotionally?
Those are currently the four issues. I have explained everything that needed explaining.
Lastly, this book is actually a multiverse story. Because of traffic considerations, Naruto is at the beginning of the title, but it will be changed after it goes premium.
So do not worry about the protagonist's cheats becoming too excessive. Also, he gets one major cheat every five years, such as a system or something similar.
But the protagonist is only six years old right now and has not figured out the pattern yet. It will gradually be explained later.
Before it went premium, the editor in charge told me to write 4,000 characters per day, neither more nor less, to fully capitalize on the new-book period traffic, so there will not be extra updates.
I hope everyone can keep reading, vote with more monthly tickets, and help push the book's performance higher!
Thank you very much!
