Background / History

Hai Bodong was once the Ice Emperor, one of the Jia Ma Empire's ten foremost powerhouses. Twenty years before his reappearance, he vanished without trace and eventually concealed himself as the owner of the small, quiet Gutu map shop near the Tagor Desert. His mapmaking skills allowed him to divide a valuable fragmented map into two halves, retaining one half for himself 78 80.

His disappearance was tied to the Serpent Sealing Curse, which had sealed his Fighting Energy and reduced him to the level of a Dou Spirit. The curse was associated with Medusa, whose lingering aura still evokes visible fear in him 79 80 86.

After Lin Qingyun defeated him in a battle over the fragmented map, Hai Bodong agreed to trade the remaining map fragment and half a year of protection for help breaking the curse. Lin Qingyun deduced the reversal method, refined the necessary pills, and restored Hai Bodong's Dou Emperor strength 80 82.

The medicine unexpectedly caused Hai Bodong to shrink into a child-like body. Enraged, he attempted to attack Lin Qingyun, but ultimately honored his promise and remained at Lin Qingyun's side as a protector while demanding that Lin Qingyun find a way to restore him 82 83. By the time Lin Qingyun reached the Dou Grandmaster realm, Hai Bodong had returned to his original appearance and sparred with him 127.

Although Hai Bodong's ice techniques and experience initially pressure Lin Qingyun, he is defeated when Lin Qingyun's True Dragon Spreading Heaven Hand breaks through his Mysterious Ice Whirlwind Kill 78 79.

Breaking the Serpent Sealing Curse

Following his defeat, Hai Bodong reveals that he possesses the other half of the fragmented map. He accepts Lin Qingyun's offer to break the curse in exchange for the map and six months of service. Lin Qingyun studies the seal, provides the reversal method, and refines the pills that finally restore Hai Bodong's Dou Emperor cultivation 80 82.

Rejuvenation Side Effect and Protection Agreement

The curse-breaking medicine causes Hai Bodong's body to regress into a child-like state. Although he tries to retaliate, Lin Qingyun persuades him to maintain their agreement.
