John tried to change his fate at God Valley, rescued Alice and Teach, and escaped with treasure after Rocks fell under Imu’s control. Later, he faked his death to expose Pete’s betrayal and arranged a sale of evidence to Morgans, leaving the exchange underway in Lulusia Kingdom.

• John joined the Rocks Pirates’ voyage to God Valley after learning Shakky was among the Celestial Dragons’ hunting-game prizes.
• John defeated Saint Shepherd Somaz, rescued Dragon and the red-haired infants, and reunited Alice and Teach with Rocks before Saturn arrived.
• Rocks and the others fought the Ushi-Oni, but Imu’s Black Transference corrupted Rocks and ordered him to destroy the Davy Family.
• John gathered the island’s treasure into a Golden Ship and fled with Alice and Teach as Rocks attacked the remaining pirates and the Rocks Pirates disbanded.
• John left Alice and Teach on Ohara, then led Pete and the crew to his hidden treasure cave, where Pete stabbed him and the pirates shot him.
• John faked his death, recorded Pete’s betrayal, and sold Morgans evidence and crew members’ fingernails for a planned payment.

John left Alice and joined the Marines in Shells Town, where he met Dragon and helped Felo Vincent confront a gang. His first naval mission led him to Soul-Loss Town, where he attacked King Snake Morgan’s pirate coalition and searched for Morgan as Moro and Beckett struck him from behind.

• Morgans published the news of John’s death, prompting Linlin and Shiki to seek the traitors while Newgate chose to mourn with his crew.
• John’s Steel Puppet killed Misa, coerced Parker into helping capture Pete’s associates, and later Pete fought Marines and Cipher Pol agents while seeking food and water.
• John visited Alice and Dr. Kureha, collected Kureha’s hair for his research, then left the village after confronting its chief and spending time with Vanessa.
• John joined the Marines in Shells Town by paying Captain Reed to falsify his birthplace, then intervened when Dragon and Vincent fought a gang targeting the Felose community.
• Dragon joined Vincent’s planned uprising, while John pursued information about Buckingham Stussy and joined Reed’s warship as it went after King Snake Morgan’s pirates.
• John attacked a merchant ship being used as bait, pursued the surviving pirates through Soul-Loss Bay, and blasted the hidden reefs blocking the route.
• John reached Soul-Loss Town and attacked Morgan’s assembled pirates, killing several and unleashing a Haki shockwave before searching for Morgan as Moro and Beckett struck him from behind.
